The Morning Rant
Gavin Newsom is a creation of the media and of the dynastic California political families that run the state along with the lunatic leftists who are their storm troopers.
He is, frankly, dumber than a rock, and as he ages he looks more and more like a middle-aged lesbian trying to pass as a soccer mom. His media consultants seem to be equally stupid, since any 12-year-old could tell them that he looks like an effete, effeminate ass with his tight jeans and tightly crossed legs. And his neck seems to be stretching also, perhaps because of the face lifts? Or maybe that is a side effect of years of BrylCreem use?
He is obviously trying to position himself as the de facto Democrat Presidential nominee for the 2028 election, and he is gleefully embracing the tax-the-rich mantra that the Democrats can't seem to shake. But Newsom is doubling down on that tired old parasitic talking point, and actually claiming that contrary to all data, California is a better tax state!
How he does it is an exercise in rank stupidity and ignorance, both of the speaker and the audience. Why his rapt and captive listeners don't laugh him off the stage is a testament to the idiocy of the rank-and-file left.
The California tax scheme is indeed progressive, and the Texas and Florida schemes are indeed regressive, but those are technical terms that do not reflect the reality, which is that the total tax burden of everyone in California: rich, middle class, or poor, is higher than that of Texas and Florida residents. And by a lot!
And it's not just high gas taxes and sales taxes; California has an income tax, unlike Florida and Texas, so the more its residents work and make, the more they are taxed. It tops out at an unbelievable 13.3%, plus -- I'm not making this up -- a 1% "Mental Health Services" tax. And it is onerous not just on well-off people who make more than $1,000,000/year. It is an insulting 9.3% marginal rate on income over about $75,000! That's not wealthy. That is scraping by in many parts of California, with $5 gasoline and outrageously expensive electricity (more than 50% higher than average).
Hopefully the Republican nominee in 2028 will "pounce" on this inconvenient, economy-destroying rate and eviscerate Governor Brylcreem for this and many other anti-freedom and anti-growth policies that he embraces like the unrepentant economic and social leftist that he is.
