Hello Horde -Haven't posted in quite a while. You'll find me occassionally posting as Our Country is Screwed. While I've been lurking, we have adopted a 5yr old dog whose family was relocating out of the country and couldn't take her with them. She is originally from Bosnia and is a Lab/Terrier/Hungarian Mudi mix, at least according to the DNA test the prior owners did on her.
Her name is Ozi and after several months of adjustment, we think we've come to an understanding on whose house it really is. After losing Fenway, our Flatcoated Retriever a couple years ago, it is great to have a canine companion again. And, she watches TV where she'll growl whenever she sees dogs on the screen. Watching the Westminster Dog Show was an overload for her, and so funny to watch.
Our two cats, Dini (tabby on the left) and Smudge (Maine Coon to the right) have also come to terms with Ozi and her mannerisms. While we haven't witnessed it, we are sure there was a bitch-slap delivered to the dog, as only cats can do.

So sorry that you lost Fenway, glad that you adopted Ozi, who deserves a family.
Love Dini and Smudge. Thanks for the great photos!

Just this week, Mrs OCiS and I were looking out into our back yard when we noticed two birds of prey in a tree near our shed. At the top is a Coopers Hawk. If you look down the tree, you'll see a Barred Owl. We hear the owls all the time at night, but never have we seen one this close in the wild.

Nice to see those birds so close to your home!

Some tips for discovering PetMoron Adjacent Animals from By-Tor, with a couple of cropped images (for privacy).
I got a Blink camera system on Amazon a month ago. I was skeptical for $60 for two cameras, but Ring was $200 for one, so worth a shot.
It’s pretty good! Easy setup, great picture. And with the subscription I get to review clips of all the activations. And watch live.
I get alerts that pop up on my phone that tell me what’s happening in real time. Like this one-
“dark cat is walking on driveway.”
It’s lithium battery powered so no bothering with hard wiring, but they are cheap and last six months or so. The color picture shows how clear it is, with the same pesky cat setting it off.
I recommend.
Not raccoons this time!
