Well, maybe we're a little woke.

Netflix tried to sweet-talk Congress into letting them gain near-monopoly power in the entertainment space. GOP Congressmen feared another woke propaganda monopoly. Ted Sanadaros lied, claiming Netflix was just an entertainment company with no interest at all in grooming children.

Charlie Gasparino reports that Netflix betrayed its woke agenda when they let Congressional investigators use the men's room.

There were many defining moments featured in the months-long battle for the ownership of Warner Bros. Discovery: sit-downs to woo President Trump, high-profile congressional hearings, a brutal bidding war, and a tampon.

Yes, a tampon.

During the negotiations, while Netflix was telling skeptical GOP lawmakers that it wasn't a left-wing company looking to get more powerful by snapping up WBD, a delegation of legislators paid a visit to its headquarters, and one was both shocked and disturbed to find a basket containing tampons in the men's restroom.

To be clear, there are other factors involved in CEO Ted Sarandos' decision to cancel his nearly completed purchase of WBD's studio and streaming service. But the "tampon incident," as it has become known on Capitol Hill, does carry some weight in the unwavering political opposition from the GOP to Sarandos' ambitions.

"This is 2026, not 2020," said one GOP staffer with firsthand knowledge of the matter. "What were they thinking?"

During the six-month bidding war, many Republicans in Congress, state AG offices and of course the White House came to believe that Netflix was seeking to create a monopoly in streaming -- an increasingly important way Americans consume entertainment.

Netflix denied this, arguing it faces competition for consumers from social media and YouTube, though opposition only seemed to intensify in recent weeks. One big worry: Netflix would use the market clout that WBD would give it to further push progressivism in its programming.

Sarandos has long argued that Netflix programming appeals to all political tastes, but conservative-leaning advocacy groups have produced research that its programming and documentaries more often push themes such as transgenderism, DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), and other issues near and dear to the cultural left.

Sarandos and Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, meanwhile, are both big supporters of Democrats and progressive policies. Susan Rice, a top official in the lefty Obama administration and a staunch critic of Trump, sits on its board. It was Rice's inopportune comments on a podcast attacking companies that do business with Trump that is also said to have cost Sarandos more White House support for the WBD deal.

Now that Paramount (almost) owns WB, John Oliver will probably be the next to join Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel in the podcasting world.

"We might be getting a new business daddy!," Oliver quipped at the beginning of Sunday night's show. "Last Week Tonight" airs on HBO, which sits within Warner Bros. Discovery. Under the announced terms, Paramount plans to buy all outstanding WBD shares at $31 per share in cash, with the companies saying the deal is expected to close in Q3 2026, subject to regulatory clearances and WBD shareholder approval.

"Yeah, not great news," he went on to say. "In fact, if I may quote anyone who's ever accidentally sat on their Roku remote, I'm in Paramount now...how the f-ck do I get out of here?'"

Speaking of left-wing media that endlessly promotes the grooming of children: Highly Alleged Born-Again Catholic and #SuddenOnsetBasedWarrior Megyn Kelly, everybody, when someone else was signing her checks. Here she welcomes "transgender" children, between 11 and 13 years old, and a transgender agitator for "the Gender-Cool Project."

Boy isn't she based. I totally believe she is, deep in her soul, a totally committed movement conservative and not just another Holler-for-a-Dollar media whorecaster.

Do you guys remember, when Megyn Kelly was attacking Trump on Fox most nights, and was about to abandon Fox for a left-wing network, she was reportedly seen at an industry event shunning all Fox personnel and spending the night giggling with Jake Tapper, Jim Schiutto, Don Lemon, and other CNN hard-left liberals?

I do.

In case I never said this here, I never thought Megyn Kelly was much of a thinker. I linked her not because she was a leader, but because she is and was and always will be a follower.

I took her as a reasonable proxy for what other follower-AWFULs were thinking. If even the AWFUL Megyn Kelly was turning against transgenderism, then I would take that as a canary in the coalmine that the left had lost ground on the issue.

Again, I never saw her as a cutting edge thinker that should be quoted because she was leading the discourse. I saw her a slavishly-imitative, social-status-obsessed follower and corporate fuckbunny who would be a reliable lagging indicator of where the other followsome AWFULs might be moving. Not a leading indicator, a lagging one. Watching Megyn Kelly would tell you where the national trend had been a year ago.

Which is still useful information. We don't usually see trends as they're happening. We often only confirm them after they've already happened.

Megyn will always move to where she thinks the middle of the pack is, where she thinks it's safest, where she's surrounded by the most bodies.

Especially male bodies. For a feminist, she really takes all of her cues from more decisive men. Roger Ailes, Brit Hume, Tucker Carlson, Glenn Greenwald, Nick Fuentes... this GirlBoss Feminist really needs a confident man, usually a blowhard, to tell her what she should be thinking at any moment.

Now that she's just Granny Groyper, she has no use to me. I don't need to know where Nick Fuentes and "Sneako" and Hasan Piker are heading.

First, a new Scary Movie, this one featuring a lot of returning cast members. I know they're stupid and low-rent, but I did like Scary Movie 1 and 2. I'm a fan of Anna Farris.

A few dumb anti-woke jokes. I'll take them. Light content warning. In one scene Anna Farris holds two big dildos like martial arts weapons. And it's just generally R-rated stuff.

Is it good...? Eh, it's like The Force Awakens before everyone caught up with me and realized it was a piece of shit: It gives nostalgia feels.

I don't like promoting Disney or its subsidiary Hulu, but Vince Vaughan did a new comedy.
