In case anyone was wondering, this was the real motive behind today's press conference.

Mayor Mamdani promised a laundry list of "free" giveaways to buy votes, with no plan to pay for them. Now that the math doesn't work, instead of owning the fact that he misled New Yorkers, he's blaming me.

Let's be clear: I left him over $8 BILLION in reserves.

This is the same Mamdani who spent years attacking me for not spending enough during the migrant crisis.

The only reason those reserves exist is because I ignored him and his socialist comrades who demanded we blow billions more with no guardrails.

"Free" isn't free. It's just a bill someone else has to pay.

The most basic category error the left makes - repeatedly - on every police shooting is to characterize the shooting as an unjust "punishment" for the conduct of the person shot. They then argue that said person didn't "deserve" to be "executed," and so clearly the police officer is in the wrong.

That's not what it's about. It's NEVER what's it's about. Punishment is administered through the judicial system. The right of a law enforcement officer to use deadly force in self-defense or defense of others is about the rights of the officer, his colleagues, and nearby civilians as human beings whose lives have value, too. They have a right to respond to the imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm with deadly force. And in exercising that right, they are not judged from the perspective of an omniscient superhuman, with perfect knowledge of everything happening in that moment; they are held to the standard of the reasonable person perceiving what they can from that viewpoint.

And she was back at it last night, this time asserting, WITHOUT EVIDENCE, that ICE is a "white supremacy" "militia" which is now staffed almost entirely by... Proud Boys.

O'LEARY: "Did you just say ICE officers are militia?!"

CROSS: "Yes. Have you not been paying attention?"

O'LEARY: "Yeah...I think you're stretching a little bit."

CROSS: "They certainly mirror the Gestapo."

O'LEARY: "This is a federal, state mandate, you're pushing that a little bit there. That's WAY offside."

*Abby Phillip looked concerned.*

PHILLIP: "But Tiffany, you're just making a supposition here. There's no concrete evidence of actual Proud Boy members."
