Well, we've all heard of The Dog Days of Summer, but Tuesday was International Dog Day. Apparently, it doesn't take a lot to create an international commemorative day. There are some dog and puppy facts with information for kids at the link.

August 26 is international dog day. An opportunity for everyone to pay tribute to Man's best friend in their own way. While dog owners didn't wait until August 26 to treat their pets, this international day allows for actions that are out of the ordinary.

Many pets love bacon.

This is Penny.  At least, that's what the shelter said her name was. She responds to it not at all, so I call Pazuzu, as she has at least some demon blood.

The shelter lied about a lot of things. They said she was a chihuahua, but after a month she blew her coat. Chihuahuas don't have an undercoat. I think she's some sort of weird short-coated Pom, what do you think?

The shelter said she liked to cuddle and be brushed, but that's not true either. You know some dogs are dog dogs, and some are people dogs? She's neither, as she doesn't even follow us from room to room, and when she meets massive dogs on her walks, she goes after them like she's going to rip a leg off and beat them to death with it.

She's also supposed to be on a diet, according to the shelter, but that didn't last long. She found the shelf where the food and treats are kept and she sits in front of it and barks.  She has a nerve-shattering bark like the sound of a katyusha launching, so I just feed her.  I want to enjoy my last years.

She poops three times a day: fully formed, solid poops. I don't feed her THAT much. Where do they come from? It’s like she teleports them straight from hell.

She barks (again) to go out after we've gone to bed. That's courteous of her, but after doing business she has to search the yard for thirty minutes like she's looking for the coven that summoned her.  I have to come with because we have 'yotes. Many many 'yotes. 

Anyway, that's our new dog.  Yay.

Hello Pet Lovers. I'm still heartbroken over Tali going missing in March and part of me still prays she will somehow be found and I will get her back, but today I have adopted a new dog. Her name from the shelter is Barbie but I am not keeping that. I'm thinking of maybe the name Kaylee. She is such a sweetheart.

I guess I can’t claim this wild bunny is a “pet” but, he is a lot of fun. He shows up with his friend once a day or so looking for his carrot. He won’t touch celery or grapes. His friend/sibling stays at least ten feet away from me. I have named him “Bob” (aka Robert Rabbit).
