The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

The rule of law. It is a simple concept, but it is one of the foundations of Western culture. From the Magna Carta to the United States Constitution, Aristotle to John Locke to Montesquieu to Hayek; the even application of the law buttresses the theoretical freedoms the West has developed and fought for.

The drift away from blind justice and toward the concept of what can only be called "American Nobility" has eroded America's respect for and confidence in our institutions. When Hilary Clinton can break the law and then joke about it, when Sandy Berger can steal documents and get a slap on the wrist, when Congress can act on insider information to enrich themselves, when rioters can burn buildings and kill with impunity...the country ceases to have any confidence in itself.

And the "royalty" that is immune from prosecution is obvious to all. The princes of Democrat politics, and then their minions have been insulated for years from the consequences of their actions. Even their criminal shock troops on the street have been allowed to avoid anything more than a trivial slap on the wrist, or in the case of the rioters in NYC five years ago, were given government cash settlements for the inconvenience of being arrested!

Is that changing?

White House Says 330 Illegal Immigrants Arrested During LA Riots Will Be Deported

The White House stated that more than 330 illegal immigrants were arrested for being involved in rioting in Los Angeles over the past several days and that they will now be deported from the United States.

In a press conference on June 11, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that 113 of them “had prior criminal convictions.”

She said that, overall, 157 people have been arrested for assault and obstruction-related charges, and that number includes illegal immigrants and U.S. citizens.

This will be a powerful indicator of the seriousness of the Trump administration and its claim that the rule of law is returning to America. Will these charges be quietly dropped? Will these illegal aliens be given the opportunity to slip back into America? Will the clear message from the previous Democrat administrations that rioting and destruction is an appropriate response to legal actions be enshrined in our justice system?

The early indications are good... federal law enforcement seems to be taking seriously the idea that protest is appropriate but violence will be dealt with aggressively. And sweeping up the illegals during protests against sweeping up illegals is a delicious irony that hopefully will not be lost on the shock troops of the left.

If the Trump administration's policies create fear among the huge illegal population of America, then they will have done an admirable job. These people are criminals, and they should be afraid! And if that fear extends to the employers of these illegals...even better! The imprisonment of few hundred owners of the many thousands of firms that willingly employ illegals will go a long way to changing the paradigm in America: that we need illegals to do the work that Americans won't.

If that means that we pay more for hamburger and carrots and pork chops and new roofs? Well, that is the price we must pay to wrest control of our country from the globalists who opened our borders to these invaders, and then gave them our tax money and took our jobs!
