Wednesday Overnight Open Thread - May 21, 2025 [TRex]
Good evening Horde. The time has come for mid-week shenanigans of the overnight variety.
This is the Wednesday night ONT. It is Ladies' night in the ONT jukebox! We're featuring female musicians. We are not featuring men that dress up as women, men that sing about women, or women that are trying to be men.
Warning: the ONT only has so much space. There are more female musicians of note than space, so your favorite has likely been omitted or the wrong song was chosen to represent your favorite artist. Oh well. You'll get over it. Cry, pout and throw virtual monkey poo in the comments (but do it respectfully and be entertaining).

Early morning here, so won't be around long. JQ has the keys to the liquor cabinet. Legally Sufficient has the Ruler of Dread. Be good to each other.

Setting the tone:

Glorias are running wild!

Pair of Hearts:
***
Did you see the sign?
***
Patty Smyth is the warrior. The video is...umm...a period piece.
***
Hard to pick just one from Donna Summer:
***
Bananarama (I still don't know what the name means):
***
Sing it Belinda!
***
Only Kim Carnes could sing this song in this way:
***
And only Patsy Cline could record songs like this and make them her own:
***
Not sure where Norah Jones fits in musically with others, but she has a unique sound and wriggled her way into the ONT jukebox:
***
Dolly Dean:
***
Deep breathing with Faith Hill:
***
Tina was simply the best:
***
Pat Benatar had a great voice and this video is a tribute to WWII aviators:
***
All the old paintings on the tomb
They do the sand dance, don't you know?
If they move too quick (Oh-way-oh)
They're falling down like a domino
***
Go-Gos!
***
Juice (not the OJ variety)!
***
The Pittsburgh police scanner keeps giving:
***
Cool shell formation found randomly while walking on the beach. No idea what it is trying to tell me. Info might be in the sidebar.
***
How many Peeps?
The answer is 205. Must be lots of peeps in the middle.
This was the closest guess. Congrats!

Feels a little strange to feature the Weinermobile on Ladies' night, but here we are:
Today, Oscar Mayer announces the "Wienie 500" - a first-of-its-kind spectacle where the fleet of Wienermobiles will haul buns to the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a race unlike any other. Ahead of this year's Indianapolis 500, which draws more than 330,000 fans who consume nearly 30,000 hot dogs, Oscar Mayer's beloved Hotdoggers will make their racing debut on the very same track as the pros.
The Wienie 500 will also mark the first 'meat-up' of all six Wienermobiles in over a decade and the first competitive race for the fleet, each sporting an all-new look. Each Wienermobile will represent a different regional dog, including the Chi Dog (Midwest), New York Dog (East), Slaw Dog (Southeast), Sonoran Dog (Southwest) Chili Dog (South) and Seattle Dog (Northwest).

What a feeling! Flashdance for our big ONT finish:
