Man in India successfully sues movie theater for showing too many ads before the show

Abhishek M R sued the PVR Cinemas, BookMyShow and INOX for showing long ads of about 25 minutes before the movie began, which wasted his time.

A consumer court now has ordered PVR to mention the exact time of the movie in the tickets and not the time when the commercials ads begin. According to the complainant, the long ads delayed the movie time and due to which he could not get back to work.

The court said that "time is money" and no one has the right to benefit from someone else's time and money.

The man requested damages for "causing mental agony," punitive damages for unfair business practices, and court costs. The court awarded him $230 in damages and $92 for legal costs. The article does not say what kind of job allows enough time for a mid-day movie break (if the movie runs on time).

Who knew? The Addams family originally came from a series of cartoons in the New Yorker. The first was published in 1938. Cartoonist Charles Addams contributed many cartoons to the New Yorker. 58 featured the family in the 1940s and 1950s.

An television executive found a book of cartoons in the early 1960s and turned the concept into a television series. After a few initial meetings, Charles Addams had little to do with the television program.

The Addams Family aired in black and white for 64 episodes for two seasons on ABC from September 1964 to April 1966. Depending on who you believe, it was cancelled in the push towards color television or lower ratings in competition with Hogan's Heroes on CBS.

Vic Mizzy wrote the theme. He wrote many other theme songs for film and television, including the famous Green Acres theme.

Horde knowledge: I recently learned that the US Marines took new recruits from the draft in 1943. I had thought that the USMC was exclusively comprised of those who volunteered and made the grade.

Based on various interweb ramblings, there was an "understanding" that the Marines only wanted people who wanted to be Marines. Those drafted typically had no choice where they went, but the Marines worked with the local draft boards to find draftees who, given the choice opted for the Marines. Similar thing happened in Korea and Vietnam. No Marine draftees in World War I.

I have a small dinosaur brain. Anyone have more knowledge or personal experience?
