Starting several years ago I began swapping the halogen landscape lights for LEDs. As the halogens burned out I changed the bulbs and often the slotted covers, which were warped and melted from the heat of the halogens. There were even a few housings that were so beat up that they needed changing.
But...that heat kept the snow from covering the lamps. What a convenient bonus! The LEDs run so much cooler that they get buried quickly...mostly until spring. And because I don't want them sitting in wet snow for a few months, I swapped the covers for solid glass.
Of course no good deed goes unpunished...I now have condensation. Horrid icky vile condensation!
