Sad! Axios is Laying Off 50 "Journalists"

NEW: Axios is laying off 50 people across the company. CEO @JimVandeHei
just sent out this note -- which says the layoffs are because of "changes in the media business"

You know that despicably stupid "Why It Matters" style of "reportage" they do?

They even do that in their pinkslips:

And why is it necessary to fire these "reporters"? Well, see, there is "shifting reader attention" towards... "partisan" sites.

See, Axios isn't "partisan." They're just straight-shooters.

But "partisan" sites are draining readers from them.

Since Axios is a non-partisan site, I imagine that readers are abandoning Axios for both leftwing partisan sites and rightwing partisan sites equally, right?

Are former Axios readers, for example, coming to this site?

If so, welcome Former Axios Readers!

Why were these partisans ever reading Axios in the first place? If they just want their partisan priors confirmed, why would they have ever bothered with this even-handed, objective, non-partisan site at all?

So many questions!
