I’m a long time lurker at Ace of Spades but you can call me Rick. The first picture is of our dog Penny in her prime. Sadly, she crossed the rainbow bridge in June at 14 plus years. She was her mama’s baby.

The second picture is Dot with her toy gator. Unlike most of our dogs, she takes care of her toys and likes to stack them by her bed. She loves to show her toys to visitors. She has picked me as her human. She’s 12 years old now but still can act like a puppy.

So sorry that you have lost wonderful Penny. Dot sounds like a great dog. We would love to meet her in person.

I think this is a Swainsons hawk. Sits on our tree top watching for mice and voles when we water our hay fields. Very majestic.

I said you better not even look at my chickens.

The chickens: I usually have raised austrolorps but this year I got the variety pack to see who winters over the best. They all want to roost on the top rail even if it means sitting on top of one another.

It has been some time since I shared pictures of "my girls". Above is our 12+ pound "bull in a china shop" Maine Coon named Smudge who is almost 3. I've read where Maine Coon cats can be dog-like, and Smudge is no exception. I often call her "my dog" and she will follow me around just like one.

The Tabby is (Hou)Dini - a 13+ pound love bug about 6 years old. We picked her up from a friend of our daughter's. She was supposed to go to another family, but
they backed out. Their loss, because Dini is an awesome feline companion. These pictures were taken during a quiet period in the house when they weren't chasing/playing/fighting each other.

The picture which is mostly cropped above Dini's head is a framed picture of a farmer squiring cows milk at a pair of cats. Mrs OCiS and I grew up around farms and would have no doubt that Dini & Smudge would definitely line up from fresh-from-the-tap milk if given the opportunity.

Finally - a meme. Yes it is political, but also pet related.

Well, it's sorta political, maybe. Prayers for our pets and the former President that they may all have nine lives.
