Disney Stock Falls to $91 and Change On Reports of Declining Attendance At Their Groomer Theme Parks

In 2021, Disney's stock had been at $198.

Now, it's at $91. For those of you who aren't as good at math at me, $91 is what we call "less." It's the pointy side of the crocodile.

Supposedly, Disney's stock price is falling due to poor attendance at their parks.

There was once a time in the United States when a trip to Disneyland was part of the summer vacation standard. But those times are increasingly changing, and many today despair of the chance to ever return. And that's not helping Disney (DIS) shares, down over 2% in the closing minutes of Monday's trading. The price of a Disney experience these days is, for a lot of families out there, downright impossible to fit into a budget. So Disney, facing a decline in park attendance, is working to turn things around because a couple dozen super-wealthy people a day do not make for a working theme park.

Disney is paring back hotel rates, offering summer dining plans, and even lowering ticket prices on some of its parks in a bid to draw regular people back to the park. Given that prices of a one-day park hopper ticket had risen as high as $254 each, it was clear something needed to be done. The discounted ticket is $154 but only allows access to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT. Adding actual Disney World to that will run another $109 per day minimum, which actually makes prices higher overall.

While families are left with the terrible choice of seeing Disney for a couple of days or buying an entire television, Disney has announced that the animatronic character "Liver Lips McGrowl" is no longer a part of the Country Bear Jamboree. A recently concluded seven-month refurbishing effort saw the character removed, as his name was considered "derogatory" to alcoholics.

Meanwhile, in a clear showing of no confidence in Disney, former Marvel owner (and Trump Mar-a-Lago friend) Ike Perlmutter has dumped his entire several-billion dollar stake in Disney.

The stock is down 26% since April 2 -- when it closed at a 52-week high of $122.82 ahead of the shareholder vote.

It was down more than 3%, to $91.22, in midday trading Tuesday.

Perlmutter said he sold his stake between early April and mid-July at an average price of just under $115.

He expects the share price to continue to plunge, he told the Journal, and would jump in to buy back his stake if Disney's shares decline to $65 to $75 per share.

Disney did not comment.

Perlmutter's move comes after he gave control of his voting shares to activist investor Nelson Peltz in an ill-fated campaign to secure two seats on Disney's board of directors.

Nelson Peltz dumped his entire position of Disney stock previously, and now Perlmutter has dumped his billions of dollars worth of stock. It just could be that both of these men selling off their huge pool of stocks is partly responsible for the fall in Disney stock price.

So now Iger and his board of yes-men cronies -- and his huge leftwing backers at BlackRock and Vanguard -- have Disney all to themselves, and don't have to fear any hostile takeovers and do not have to accede to any demand to put directors on the board who will actually stand up for the shareholders.

It's all Iger's show now.

Gird your loins, Disney shareholders.

Disney had of course jumped in to invest in the dying, woke zombie show Doctor Who. It was on the verge of cancellation after three terrible seasons of the Woke Female Doctor, Doctor Karen.

Disney told the showrunners to shoot for the moon and make it even woker and gayer.

They did. And now it's on the verge of cancellation.

Probably forever, this time. There is no longer a large fandom with good memories of Doctor Who. There will be no mass letter-writing campaigns to pressure the BBC to give it another chance.

And so another former billion-dollar IP burns on the Bonfire of the Woke Vanities.

A new report has cast doubt on the future of Disney's lucrative deal Doctor Who with the BBC.

In 2022, Disney bought the international distribution rights to Doctor Who, in a deal which considerably boosted the production budget for the recent 14th season.

At the time the deal was announced, the BBC's chief content officer Charlotte Moore said: "Joining forces with Disney will elevate the show to even greater heights and reach new audiences so it's an extremely exciting time for fans in the UK and across the world."

However, a new report by US trade outlet Deadline has claimed that the future of the deal is uncertain.

The outlet notes that Doctor Who did not feature at Disney's "upfronts" presentation at the North Javits Center in May, where the company showcases its biggest forthcoming shows.

In the piece, a "source close to the production" is quoted as saying they "feel its future hangs in the balance already".

...

The report also describes the audience ratings surrounding the latest series as being "complex".

On average, the latest season of Doctor Who drew in almost 1.5 million fewer viewers per episode (over seven days) than the final series starring the previous Doctor, Jodie Whittaker.

What's so "complex"? The show lost even more viewers from the little-watched Doctor Karen period. It's a stone-cold failure.

...

Another industry source is quote as saying: "The ratings are a problem. They can talk all they like about young viewers but they're still down from the specials and down from the Jodie [Whittaker] series. I imagine serious conversations are happening. Disney will want to see results."

Maybe Disney is already seeing the results they wanted -- they got the first black gay doctor. That's all they really wanted.

They don't want to make a profit, they just want to make propaganda.

Disney's other big bomb this year was the woke Lesbian Space Witches show, The Acolyte. It also failed to attract an audience, and lost 90% of its initial audience through its run.

Disney is claiming they haven't decided yet about whether to renew it.

But the showrunner seems to know the writing is on the wall -- she says she needs a "break from Star Wars."

See, it's her decision, you guys! She could have as a season 2 of Lesbian Space Witches if she wanted! But she wants to spend more time with her Indigo Girls albums!
