Gun Thread: Open(ish) Edition!

Howdy, Y'all! Welcome to the wondrously fabulous Gun Thread! As always, I want to thank all of our regulars for being here week in and week out, and also offer a bigly Gun Thread welcome to any newcomers who may be joining us tonight. Howdy and thank you for stopping by! I hope you find our wacky conversation on the subject of guns 'n shooting both enjoyable and informative. You are always welcome to lurk in the shadows of shame, but I'd like to invite you to jump into the conversation, say howdy, and tell us what kind of shooting you like to do!

I suspect I know what you guys and gals want to talk about tonight, so let's get to it. "Normal" programming will return next Sunday.

Gun Thread condolences to the family of the person killed, and best wishes to those injured and to PDT and his family.

President Trump, realizing what was going on immediately hit the deck, was swarmed by the Secret Service and rushed from the stage while gesturing to the crowd signaling he was OK. He was treated for a gunshot wound to his right ear at a nearby hospital and later released.

Donald Trump is a fucking LEGEND.

He immediately had the presence of mind to un-ass the podium and then to let his supporters know he had not been fatally injured.

There is all sorts of early speculation regarding the shooting in general and security failures in particular, which hopefully will be sorted out in due time. That said, I think we can have an intelligent conversation with what we know so far because there are a lot of questions that need to be answered.

Readers of the Gun Thread will know I am not a fan of discussing current events. There are too many other threads and internet sites devoted to that sort of thing so I generally don't see the need to engage in those topics here. In fact, I rather enjoy having a little corner of the internet to talk about our mutual interests without all the political bullshit since we're mostly in agreement anyway. Tonight, however, we'll be making an exception.

I am also not a big fan of rules but I believe some guidelines for this evening's discussion are in order since you are welcome to discuss the usual guns 'n shooting as well as the events of yesterday involving PDT.

You are not welcome to make any sort of threats or make any calls for retribution or acts of violence against any person or political party. Period. Don't like it and feel compelled to show what a tough internet hombre you are? I don't want to hear it, and if I see it I will at a minimum delete the comment. We good on Rule #1?

Next, I absolutely expect you to treat one another with respect no matter how retarded the other guy is. Do not get into a shit-flinging contest with another commenter. If somebody gets under your skin, let it go. I am not going to spend a lot of time figuring out who said what or who started a fracas, I am simply going to fix the problem. If you aren't sure how your comment will be received, keep it to yourself.

Lastly, If a troll shows up, IGNORE them and let me handle it. That means do not respond to them directly or indirectly or quote their comments.

So that's it. The points above are not all-inclusive and all the rules of common sense still apply. Do Not say anything that is going to get the site or Ace in trouble. Thank you.
