Ace of Spades Pet Thread, July 6
* * *
Good afternoon and welcome to the almost world famous Ace of Spades Pet Thread. Thanks for stopping by. Kick back and enjoy the world of animals.
Would you like a treat?
Let's relax a little with the animals and leave the world of politics and current events outside today.

Independence Day brings some not-so-safe-and-sane fireworks to our neigborhood, and while our dogs don't freak out as much as some of our big ones used to, they still want to sleep with us. They are normally not allowed on the bed, but the medium-sized one tunneled under the bed, and the little one wanted to sleep on the pillow, on top of my head.
Hope you didn't have any fireworks "adventures" with your animals.

Is this accurate?

Some dogs were just meant to swim.

Meet The PetMorons
From Jewells:
These three cuties are the newest addition to Shep's. Again, they went straight to foster so I'll never get to meet them darn it! Maudie is 12, Augie is 11 and Chug is 8. Their owner passed away. We are hoping to adopt all three out together.
What adorable doxies! And they are not all the same. Thanks for sending the great photo, Jewells!

There was a sad late entry to the comments on last week's post:
I had to put my best friend down today. It had gotten to where she could barely breath and she could no longer swallow. Her nose was dry and cracked from dehydration and she gagged and drooled all morning. She tried to eat grass but I had to pull it out by hand as she was choking on a ball of grass as big as my fist. It was time.
I got her just a few months after my wife left in 2010 and took my boys. She was my only real friend during the lowest period of my life. She was my constant companion and kept me warm at night. She was 18 months old then. She would have turned 15 years old in August. I could not continue to watch her drop weight and slowly, painfully make it up the steps one at a time because of the arthritis in her shoulders any longer. She always really enjoyed eating and, finally, this morning, she couldn't even do that anymore. I finally realized I was being selfish because I couldn't bear to let her go. It was time to man up and say goodbye. I will never forget my little girl and the unflinching loyalty and happiness she brought me when I needed it the most.

So sorry for your heartbreaking loss. It was time. Hope you check in here from time to time.

There really is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow - Frank, Winston and Archie - my 3 grand dogs.
Conservative Hippy
They are utterly charming. They seem to like the rainbow.

Our gregarious Swiss guide dog, Gioia, is hosting another friend on vacation, the chocolate lab Levi.

If you start feeling nostalgic, here a link to last two weeks' Pet Threads. We are so lucky to have Misanthropic Humanitarian.
I closed the comments on these posts so you wouldn't get banned for commenting on a week-old post, but don't try it anyway.
