The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“Officers recovered over $9,000 worth of stolen merchandise. This demonstrates the ongoing efforts of our department to combat retail theft in our city,” Roseville Police Department

Quote II

“We found that those children who teachers felt had problems with attention, peer relationships and emotional instability did end up earning less in the future, as we expected, but we were surprised to find a strong link between aggressive behaviour at school and higher earnings in later life,” Prof Emilia Del Bono

Quote III

“If you had long terms, for example, they’d have to be long. Why long? Because I don’t think you want someone who’s appointed to the Supreme Court to be thinking about his next job.” Retired SCOTUS Justice Stephen Breyer

US Senate Democrats hate you. They hate me. And they hate our country. How else would you explain this vote.

The Democrats in the Senate voted unanimously against a measure that would have stopped Joe Biden from using taxpayer money to fly illegal aliens INTO the U.S.A.

Every single Dem. senator voted against Republican Bill Hagerty’s amendment to defund Biden’s efforts to import illegals using our taxes to do it.

Hagerty posted a video to X on Saturday blasting the Democrats.

“Tonight, every single Senate Democrat voted against my amendment that would stop Biden Admin from using taxpayer dollars to charter flights for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens from their countries directly to American towns to be resettled,” he wrote. “Indefensible.”

Smoking can kill you.

A backpacker was killed after falling from a moving train on Thailand’s notorious ‘Death Island’.

Ryan Joseph Ralph, 24, boarded the overnight train with British girlfriend Shona Morgan, 22, in Bangkok to reach the notorious Koh Tao island on Wednesday.

A couple of hours into the journey, the Canadian tourist left Shona sleeping while he went for a cigarette at the end of the carriage.

I have good news and I have bad news. The bad news is the strategic maple syrup reserves are at a historic low. On the good news side, CBD is just fine with this mess.

Canada's maple syrup reserve - the world's only - has reached a 16-year low, raising questions about the future of a globally loved sweet staple in the face of climate change.

The reserve, located in Quebec, is designed to hold 133 million pounds of maple syrup at any given year.

But in 2023, the supply fell to 6.9 million pounds (3.1 million kg).

Experts link the shortage to both a rise in demand and warmer weather, which has disrupted production.

But they say that this will not affect the availability or price of maple syrup to consumers - at least for now.

The ambulance chasers usually catch the ambulance. Wouldn't it be nice once if they got run over?

In 2018, when Mike DeWine was Ohio’s attorney general, he began investigating an obscure corner of the health care industry.

He believed that insurers were inflating prescription drug prices through management companies that operated as middlemen in the drug supply chain. There were concerns that these companies, known as pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, were fleecing agencies like Medicaid, the government-run health insurance program for the poor.

Three years later, after DeWine, a Republican, became governor of Ohio, the state announced an $88 million settlement with one of the nation’s largest insurance companies, Centene.

The case led to a nationwide reckoning for the company and its pharmacy benefit management program, as attorneys general in one state after another followed Ohio’s lead, announcing multimillion-dollar settlements and claiming credit for forcing Centene to reform its billing practices.

On the surface, it appeared that these settlements, which now total nearly $1 billion, were driven by state governments cracking down on a company that had ripped off taxpayers.

But a New York Times investigation, drawing on thousands of pages of court documents, emails and other public records in multiple states, reveals that the case against Centene was conceived and executed by a group of powerful private lawyers who used their political connections to go after millions of dollars in contingency fees.

Handling disappointment the Genius Award winning way.

An Indiana woman is accused of holding a dryer repairman at gunpoint after he told her he couldn’t accept a warranty, police said. Reba LaJoy Wilson, 43, of Indianapolis, was arrested March 20 after police said she held a dryer repairman at gunpoint and shot at him as he tried to escape, according to a probable cause affidavit. Wilson told the man who came to fix her dryer on March 18 that a previous company said her machine was under warranty, according to court documents. The repairman said he “could not honor another company’s warranty,” documents show.
