If this is true, it doesn't make much sense for Biden to react this way. Mayorkas has simply carried out the policies Biden campaigned on.

On debate stage, Biden himself invited asylum seekers to "surge" the border. He also said just being in U.S. illegally shouldn't be a deportation priority, and said he wouldn't deport anyone in his first 100 days in office.

The bottom line at the border is perception = reality for migrants.

Big picture, the majority believe Biden = nice, Trump = harsh, and that the border is open & welcoming under Biden.

Mass catch & release & the so called "selfie" effect of migrants FaceTiming, taking pics, recording videos showing they've made it to the U.S. & have been released just reinforces that. Then you throw in 5 star hotels in NYC etc, and it all magnifies.
