Elderly Fabulist and Clainmed Frequent Rape VictimE. Jean Carroll, Who Has Accused Seven Men of Raping Her, Celebrates Her Outrageous Jury Award By Promising to Buy Rachel Maddow Dresses
Nikki Haley Says the Jury Got It Right
ABC "News," headed by Clinton spin room leader George Stephanopolous:
Three days after a jury awarded her over $83 million for Donald Trump's repeated defamatory statements, columnist E. Jean Carroll vowed to use the money on "something Donald Trump hates."
"If it'll cause him pain for me to give money to certain things, that's my intent," Carroll told George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America," suggesting she would create a "fund for the women who have been sexually assaulted by Donald Trump."
After a two-week trial, a jury took less than three hours on Friday to return a verdict that Trump should pay Carroll over $83 million in damages to compensate her for two defamatory statements made by the former president in 2019 after she alleged Trump sexually assaulted her in 1996.
E. Jean Carroll was awarded $5 million for the "sexual assault" the civil jury claimed occurred. (Not the rape, note: They did not find that.)
But this new jury awarded $83 million for Trump calling her a "wack job," which she plainly is.
She went on Rachel Maddow to celebrate because Rachel Maddow is a real journalist and of course real journalists celebrate partisan court victories with their interview subjects:
Megyn Kelly discussed it on yesterday's show.
Nikki Haley, who is trying to win back the donations of leftwing billionaires like Reid Hoffman, says the jury got it right.
Related: The AP admits that the NYS fraud prosecution against Trump -- in which "Tish" James is seeking $400 million+ in non-damages because Trump evaluated his assets and "Tish" James disagrees with those evaluations -- is entirely unprecedented, and no person has ever before been prosecuted for what the state claims is mis-evaluating their assets where no one was defrauded or even lost any money at all.
Within days, Donald Trump could potentially have his sprawling real estate business empire ordered "dissolved" for repeated misrepresentations on financial statements to lenders, adding him to a short list of scam marketers, con artists and others who have been hit with the ultimate punishment for violating New York's powerful anti-fraud law.
An Associated Press analysis of nearly 70 years of civil cases under the law showed that such a penalty has only been imposed a dozen previous times, and Trump's case stands apart in a significant way: It's the only big business found that was threatened with a shutdown without a showing of obvious victims and major losses.
Lawyers for the state in Trump's monthslong civil trial have argued that the principles of fair play in business alone are enough to justify a harsh penalty, but even they aren't calling for the prospect of liquidation of his businesses and properties raised by a judge.
