Biden's Corruption Is So Rancid Even the Washington Post Is Now Reporting On It

Unbelievably, the Washington Post is actually doing new reporting on Biden corruption going back decades, rather than back to 2014.

Andy McCarthy:

As Dems Panic over 2024, Washington Post Dredges Up Biden Brothers' Ties to Corrupt Mississippi Lawyer and Associates

Sunday's eye-popping 4,000-word Washington Post report on Biden corruption ties is, to my mind, more indication that a serious move is under way within the top ranks of the Democratic Party establishment to nudge President Joe Biden into bowing out of the 2024 presidential race.

It had been a whisper. It grew to chatter. This counts as a shout. Not a scream yet. But a shout loud enough to catch the attention of everyone in the room.

...

The timing of the Post's report [is] intriguing. For the president, it will sting for several reasons. First, it's the Post, a pillar of the Democratic administration's Praetorian Guard... Second, the subject matter of the report goes back to the start of Joe Biden's Senate career in the early Seventies (yes, the family business goes back decades), meaning the Post has intentionally dredged up unseemly details about Biden's past that have been vaguely known for decades but that Biden must have figured were long forgotten. Third, the length of the report shows that the Post had to have spent weeks reporting its story; the paper could have dropped this report at any time, but it chose to do so now, when the president and his campaign are reeling.

The corruption involves a "legendarily sleazy" plaintiff's lawyer named Richard "Dickie" Scruggs and his henchmen in the Mississippi Democrat party, including:

Steve Patterson (a former head of the Mississippi Democratic Party and top aide to Biden's friend and colleague, the late segregationist senator John Stennis [D., Miss.]), and a lawyer named Tim Balducci.

Joe and Jim Biden, and Jim Biden's unindicted co-conspirator wife Sara (remember the checks to Biden issuing from the bank account of Jim and Sara Biden?) were close to these solid citizens and hoped to start a... government lobbying firm with them.

Scruggs, Patterson, and Balducci were eventually convicted and sentenced to federal prison in a plot to bribe a judge. At the same time that the bribery plot took place, Patterson and Balducci, with Scruggs's encouragement, were on the verge of opening a consultancy and legal partnership with Jim and Sara Biden -- the latter is a lawyer and former congressional staffer. It was contemplated that Hunter Biden would also be a participant. The partnership was scuttled by the bribery scheme. Jim Biden was secretly recorded by the FBI during the corruption investigation, but he was never implicated in the bribery scheme and was not charged -- nor, apparently, was he interviewed in connection with the case.

The Bidens are never interviewed by the FBI or DOJ when they are dabbling in bribery schemes.

But that's later -- around 2007--08. The beginning of the relationship goes back decades, when, through Senator Stennis, Senator Biden became acquainted with Patterson -- his path, and brother Jim's, to Mississippi Democratic Party connections, which mobilized for Joe's short-lived presidential campaigns in 1987--88 and 2007--08.

Scruggs had dreamed up way to sue the tobacco companies -- and pocket tens of millions of lawyer's fees for himself.

But he needed buy-in from Joe Biden. The federal government had to bless the scheme, because the government had to approve of the massive settlement Scruggs was extracting from the tobacco companies.

In mid 1997, Patterson urged Scruggs to speak with Senator Biden and other naysayers. After a meeting with the senator, Scruggs calculated that he would need help winning him over. So he turned to Jim and Sara Biden, who were running a consultancy called "Lion Hall."

Scruggs retained Lion Hall, through which he paid Jim Biden $100,000 in $10,000 installments, beginning in April 1988. In the meantime -- mirabile dictu! -- Senator Joe Biden went "from being one of [the tobacco settlement's] biggest critics to becoming one of its leading defenders -- a significant victory for Scruggs," as the Post report puts it.

(For readers with a good memory, Jim and Sara maintained a Lion Hall bank account. In 2017, after Hunter pressured his partners at CEFC, an arm of the Communist Chinese regime, to pay the Bidens $5 million -- warning that he was sitting with his father and that they wanted answers -- Hunter took a $400,000 chunk of the haul and transferred $150,000 to Jim and Sara Biden's Lion Hall account. From that $150,000, Sara transferred $40,000 to another account on which she wrote a $40,000 check to Joe Biden -- sounds an awful lot like "ten percent for the big guy," no? -- which was described as a "loan repayment.")

McCarthy points out the anticipated, and by this point, rote defense of the Bidens: There is no proof that Joe Biden changed his vote just because people were bribing his brother.

Sure.

The Post further details that, at roughly the same time Jim and Sara Biden were receiving money from Scruggs while Scruggs was trying to influence Senator Biden, Jim and Sara were elsewhere touting that clients would profit from their connections to Senator Biden....

Despite the failure to reach a federal tobacco settlement, Scruggs hit the jackpot by cutting separate deals with the states. The combined $248 billion settlement netted his firm over $300 million in fees. Scruggs maintained his close ties to the Bidens, hosting Joe at the iconic Grove and then in a skybox for an Ole Miss football game; flying Joe on his private jet to a fundraiser in Jackson in 2000; and in 2007, helping launch Joe's bid for the Democratic nomination -- Joe did a talk about his just-released memoir at a bookstore around the corner from Scruggs's law office in Oxford, Miss., and then a fundraiser at the nearby University Club.

The various corrupt Democrats and Jim Biden prepared to start a "law" firm, which of course would be a lobbying firm dressed up as a law firm. Jim Biden wasn't even a lawyer; his wife is. (That may be why she is always prominent in these deals and schemes.) They made mention of Jim Biden's brother being Joe Biden in their solicitation materials.

Alas, simultaneously with the preparation to launch the firm, Jim and Sara Biden's partners bribed a judge. The scheme drew an FBI probe, resulting in some recordings of Jim Biden (which do not evince knowledge of the bribery scheme on Jim's part).

Read the rest of the details at the link. The nutshell: Jim Biden's would-be "law" firm partners were handing envelopes containing $20,000 to a judge.

The Bidens are never far from bribery. Just one step away.

But you know -- there's no evidence that Jim Biden or Joe Biden knew what Jim Biden's partners were doing.

Meanwhile, there's more smoke trickling from another hotspot in the Biden Bonfire of Corruption.

In a new letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, a bipartisan group of lawmakers from both chambers of Congress is demanding answers regarding U.S. companies that were apparently allowed by the Biden administration to export technology to entities in adversarial foreign countries -- entities with products currently being used in attacks against America's international partners.

....

According to the lawmakers' letter, the company raising concerns is Da Jiang Innovations -- DJI -- a Chinese state-owned drone company that has been on the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security's (BIS) Entity List since 2020 when it was found to have "facilitated widespread human rights abuses in the PRC to surveil and monitor Chinese Communist Party (CCP) detention camps in Xinjiang."

"This listing recognizes that DJI actively works against America's national security interests, and the issuance of export control licenses to DJI should be prohibited to ensure it cannot benefit from American innovation and ingenuity," the lawmakers emphasized. That seems like a no-brainer, yet DJI has apparently continued to benefit from U.S. technology via such licenses.

More from the letter led by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA):

Given DJI's placement on the Entity List...American companies cannot export their technology to DJI unless they receive an export license from the U.S. government. Credible industry reports provide evidence of several cases where U.S. components are found inside DJI drones, suggesting that the U.S. government is granting these licenses. For example, in a 2022 LinkedIn post, U.S.-based company CEVA touted that its components are part of a DJI drone.

Making the Biden administration's approval of tech export licenses for DJI more concerning is how the CCP drones have been used outside of the genocidal regime's persecution of Uyghurs and other citizens. In addition to its use at detention camps in China, "DJI drones have been exported to America's adversaries for military purposes, in violation of U.S. export laws and sanctions," lawmakers explained. "Most recently, open-source reporting has shown that on October 7, 2023, Hamas used DJI drones to disable Israeli surveillance systems and drop munitions on Israeli forces on the Gaza border."

In another theater of chaos, "DJI is also illegally equipping the Russian Federation with drones that Russia's military is deploying on the front lines of their war in Ukraine," lawmakers added. "In a report to Congress on Chinese Military Power, the DoD stated that between March 2022 and 2023, PRC companies exported more than '$12 million worth of drones and drone components to Russia,' which they are using 'for targeting surveillance, and strike missions in Ukraine.'"

But there's "no evidence" that Biden's close relationship with Chinese communist businessmen -- through his son -- has anything to do with his easy-peasy grant of licenses to sell sensitive military technology to the Chinese communist government.
