The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

The United States is a nation of laws: badly written and randomly enforced. Frank Zappa

Quote II

“The fact is, Musk may be the last man standing between real freedom of speech and the suffocating block of this censorship industrial complex, which is made up of government, media, and tech forces,”

“He realizes that advertisers have no spine and can be easily cowed by special interest groups in cahoots with political allies.

“If you don’t believe me, I’ve got two words for you: Tucker Carlson.” Greg Gutfeld

Quote III

There seems to be a kind of apathy with a lot of retailers where they sort of like let it happen or look the other way or that's a cost of doing business. We disagree with that approach. We are going after anyone that takes something from us." Michael Sullivan, is the operations manager at Roger’s Garden Nursery, Newport Beach, California

Quote V

"I am really upset with the way this lady has acted and I would hate for this to happen to any other salon. Our stylists are self-employed and when someone receives a service from them they deserve to be paid for it. Incidents like this have a big impact on small independent businesses like ours." James Clarke, owner of No 23 Hair and Beauty Studio

Quote IV

"The RNC’s mission is to win elections. It is not their mission to reduce competition and restrict fresh ideas by ‘narrowing the field’ months before the Iowa caucuses or the first in the nation New Hampshire primary. These arbitrary criteria ensure advantages for candidates from major media markets on the coasts versus America’s Heartland. None of their debate criteria relate to the qualifications related to actually doing the job of the president. This effort to nationalize the primary system is unhealthy for the future of the party, especially for a party that proclaims to value leadership from outside of Washington." ND Gov. Doug Burgum (R)

"They" say every vote counts. I guess they are right once in awhile.

Washington city council candidate who didn't vote loses by one ballot

Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A Washington man who thought it would be "kind of narcissistic" to vote for himself ended up losing a city council position by one vote.

Damion Green ran for Rainier City Council, but he said he didn't cast a ballot in the Nov. 7 election.

If you wouldn't vote for yourself, why would anyone else?

The official cause of death? He was scared shitless. Which caused heart issues.

Our society has created soft, squishy snowflakes.

Nearly half of Americans age 18 to 29 are living with their parents
The trend to move back in with mom and dad is pushing up discretionary spending

When young adults free up their budgets from daily necessities, they have more income that can be spent on discretionary items like travel, entertainment, and luxury goods.

“We think the structural change in demographics might have been overlooked,” Morgan Stanley’s Edouard Aubin and a team of analysts wrote in a note on Dec. 9. “One of the key demographic trends in the US (and the broader Western market) has been the rising number of young adults living with their parents, driven by financial concerns (i.e. rental costs) as well as other sociological factors (e.g. higher penetration of higher education and increasingly delayed age for marriage).

I use to have feelings for taxpayers being stuck with the tab for their elected officials ineptness. Not anymore. Make them pay. And make them pay hard. Make them hurt.

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL: An 11-year-old girl was assigned to share a bed with a male student who identifies as a transgender girl while on a cross-country school trip, according to a demand letter sent Monday. That girl’s parents are now calling upon the public school system to provide answers and clarification of its policies related to children who identify as transgender.

Represented by Alliance Defending Freedom, Joe and Serena Wailes are calling on the Colorado-based Jefferson County School Board and Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Tracy Dorland to clarify “whether JCPS will continue this practice of intentionally withholding information about rooming accommodations from parents like the Waileses, who object to their children rooming with a student of the opposite sex, regardless of the other student’s gender identity.”

“This practice renders it impossible for these parents to make informed decisions about their children’s privacy, upbringing, and participation in school-sponsored programs,” reads the demand letter, which was exclusively provided to The Daily Signal. “Additionally, our clients request information related to JB R-1 and the ability to opt out of this rooming policy for all future school trips.”

True, the following may be considered filler material. But, it is a bit interesting, 'My Quest to Drink a Nobu Martini in My Pajamas If Robert De Niro can do it, why can’t I?

In November, Robert De Niro’s former assistant Graham Chase Robinson successfully sued the actor’s company for, among other things, De Niro asking her to scratch his back and rescue his dogs from an incipient fire, contacting her while she was at her grandma’s funeral, and calling her a bitch. De Niro’s company unsuccessfully countersued Robinson, arguing that she used the company card for personal Uber rides and watched too much Netflix on the clock. In an attempt to prove that the company-card argument held no water, Robinson’s lawyer pointed out that De Niro once asked Robinson to Uber him a “particular martini” from Nobu, the restaurant he co-owns, at 11 o’clock at night.

Robinson had been dining at Nobu for her friend’s daughter’s 21st birthday when “Bob” called. “And I told him I was at Nobu, and he asked that I bring a martini to him after I finished dinner … He asked me to bring him a martini on my way home.” Robinson did and “met him downstairs,” ostensibly at one of his Manhattan residences, where “he was in his pajamas and slippers, and I handed him the martini in a plastic container.”

I have three nephews. I have three daughters. Yes, "periods are not a gender issue".

The world’s first tampons for men have been criticised by feminist campaigners as an “insult” to women who suffer period discrimination.

Vuokkoset, a Finnish company released the controversial new sanitary product earlier this month to coincide with Transgender Awareness week and International Men’s day.

The product comes in a dark blue box which bears the words “For Men” on one side, but then extends this phrase around the packaging so it eventually reads “For Menstruation”.

The ONT Musical Interlude & Sidewalk Cafe Emporium

Experimental Rock Star, Frank Zappa, Dies
On this day in music, December 4, 1993, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer Frank Zappa lost his battle with cancer. Bearing a musical virtuosity that rivaled few others, Zappa’s pioneering work was vast and varied – from his free-form improvisations inspired by avant-garde jazz, to sound experiments with non-traditional instruments, to his biting lyrical satire of modern society. Although Zappa divided critics and fans while he was alive, his influence on modern rock and experimental music is undeniable. Following his death, he was honored with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. via thisdayimusic.com

I'm thinking kebabs would be hard to keep warm while being transported. Not our Genius Award Winner.

Gunmen fire at police while holding takeaway driver hostage for delivering ‘cold kebab

This is the moment two men fired shots at police while holding a takeaway driver hostage for 14 hours after delivering a ‘cold kebab’.

Bedfordshire Police are seen surrounding the block of flats where the two shooters, Paul Burton, 45, and Nathan Turner, 37, barricaded themselves in along with the victim.

The stand off lasted for 14 hours at Bury Court on the outskirts of Bedford in November 2022.

During this time Burton began live streaming on Facebook, complaining to police his takeaway driver ‘failed at his job’ as his kebab arrived late and was missing the salad.
