The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“Not everybody is doing what they promised to do. And needless to say, that’s a problem and we need to have accountability at this COP, for that lack of follow-through by some,” John F. Kerry

Quote II

“I don’t think [you] will be able to help solve the climate problem by pointing fingers or contributing to the polarisation and the divide that is already happening in the world. Show me the solutions. Stop the pointing of fingers. Stop it, The president of Cop28, Sultan Al Jaber

Quote III

”We as gay conservatives wholly reject that. And it doesn’t mean we have to stop advocating for basic rights for trans individuals, but we’re never going to go down the lunacy road that blurs the lines between the immutable fact, and importance, of gender in society, that the left is so desperately trying to destroy.”
Charles Moran, President of the Log Cabin Republicans

Quote IV

"There is no evidence to suggest that ski masks cause or encourage violent crime. If you'd like to address violent crime, I'd suggest housing, food assistance, child-care, things like that" Solomon Furious Worlds, an attorney with the Pennsylvania ACLU

Quote V

"I think I feel the people I owe a debt and an apology to is the academic community and to the students and the families that sacrifice and work really hard to get to where they are going legitimately." Felicity Huffman

Quite frankly Your Honor I don't give a rat's ass about your Christmas tree plans.

Michigan Muslim Mayor Says He’s ‘Not in the Mood’ for Christmas if Bombs Are Falling in Gaza.
Dearborn mayor Abdullah Hammoud said residents – including himself – were “not in the mood” at this year’s city Christmas tree lighting, adding “Not when bombs are dropping in Gaza.” The Muslim mayor claimed growing concerns about Islamophobia were also to blame for the unusually somber event.

Your "Palestinian" brethren would be better off espousing Christian principals.

When it comes to ICE vehicles, there are only 2 types of transmissions. One would think car thieves would be up on the basics, especially high end vehicles.

Violent Car Thieves Thwarted Because They Couldn’t Drive a Manual Porsche
The carjackers stalled the car twice before giving up and fleeing the scene.

I'm sure you've all seen the boomer Facebook memes of a manual shift knob and a caption that goes something like this: "Millennial anti-theft device." Yes, they're cringy and of course, many Millennials know how to drive stick. However, broken clocks are right twice a day, aren't they? While we don't know if the violent car thieves who recently tried to rob a man in Bethesda, Maryland were Millennials, we do know that the owner's manual transmission did indeed prevent theft.

I think that 99.99% of us have given our notice to an employer. I bet that none of you did it this way.

Totally Not A Psychopath
Meet Joshua James Pinquet of Florida.

Joshua was working as an inmate transport company, and he decided he didn’t want to work for the place anymore. So, he took his job and shoved it… while driving through North Carolina with inmates inside the vehicle.

An Orlando man was arrested after he drove a van full of prison inmates off-course and refused to stop while traveling in North Carolina, deputies said.

On Tuesday, around 9 a.m., deputies received a call to be on the lookout for an inmate transport van traveling on I-40 in Statesville, North Carolina.

There is more than one with charity with the same name but different spelling? Go figure......

That Kars4Kids Charity With the Bad Jingle Is Fighting a $10M Legal Battle Over Its Name

NJ-based Kars4Kids was ordered to pay Texas-based Cars for Kids $10.6 million for trademark infringement. Now, it’s appealing the decision.

here's a chance none of us ever have to hear the Kars4Kids jingle ever again. If you know it, you know how awful of an earworm it is. Every time I'd see the commercial on ESPN, I'd feel like I was in Edgar Allen Poe's Tell-Tale Heart for the rest of the day, walking around my house loudly asking if my family members could also hear the infernal racket. However, blissful relief just might be on the horizon, as Kars4Kids has been in a trademark infringement battle with the similarly named Cars for Kids charity for years.

In 2019, the District Court of New Jersey settled a trademark infringement dispute between the Garden State-based Kars4Kids charity and the Texas-based America Can! Cars for Kids charity. Both sell donated cars and use the money to help kids in need. During the dispute, the courts ultimately determined that Kars4Kids willfully infringed on Cars for Kids' trademark in Texas, and the former (that's "Kars" with a "K!") was forced to pay the latter $10.6 million in damages. That penalty was later reduced to $7.8 million this past January. The court also deemed at the time that Cars for Kids had the rights to use "Cars for Kids" in its marketing. Now, though, Kars4Kids is filing an appeal to the 2019 court decision.

That is an incredible amount of used cars.

If the science is settled, why do researchers continue to make scientific breakthroughs?

Medical Marvel: Human Cells Transformed Into Tiny Biological Robots

The multicellular bots move around and help heal “wounds” created in cultured neurons.

Researchers at Tufts University and Harvard University’s Wyss Institute have created tiny biological robots that they call Anthrobots from human tracheal cells that can move across a surface and have been found to encourage the growth of neurons across a region of damage in a lab dish.

The multicellular robots, ranging in size from the width of a human hair to the point of a sharpened pencil, were made to self-assemble and shown to have a remarkable healing effect on other cells. The discovery is a starting point for the researchers’ vision to use patient-derived biobots as new therapeutic tools for regeneration, healing, and treatment of disease.

Forgive and forget? I don't think so.

Susan Sarandon Apologizes After Pro-Palestinian Rally Comments: ‘Phrasing Was a Terrible Mistake’
The actress issued a statement following her comments amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war

Susan Sarandon has issued an apology after saying at a pro-Palestine rally in November that people feeling afraid of being Jewish at this time were “getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence”

“This phrasing was a terrible mistake,” she wrote in a statement shared to Instagram Friday night, “as it implies that until recently Jews have been strangers to persecution, when the opposite is true.”

“As we all know, from centuries of oppression and genocide in Europe, to the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh, PA, Jews have long been familiar with discrimination and religious violence which continues to this day,” she continued, adding, “I deeply regret diminishing this reality and hurting people with this comment. It was my intent to show solidarity in the struggle against bigotry of all kinds, and I am sorry I failed to do so.”

She's a dried up old Has Been. Her hair color is fake, so is her apology.

There is the right way to ask for a raise. Then there is the Genius Award way.

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A new report by Baltimore's Office of the Inspector General revealed that a worker in the Department of Public Works created a fake job offer to try to get a raise at their current job.

According to the report, the department was interested in matching the offer from another government agency to keep the employee. But when the Department of Public Works contacted the other government agency about the offer, that agency told DPW that the offer appeared fake, wrote Inspector General Isabel Cumming in her report.

The Sunday Overnight Open Thread is the kinder & gentler ONT. The homeowner said "Pretty Please!" Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Home Intruder Allegedly Ignores Homeowner's Warning - The Next Thing He Hears Is a Gunshot

It’s often said, somewhat erroneously, that a good guy with a gun is the surest way to defeat a bad guy with a gun.

It isn’t that there’s anything wrong with this logic, mind you. In fact, it’s more than sound.

The error, instead, is that the statement isn’t inclusive enough: A good guy with a gun is the surest way to defeat a bad guy, full stop.
