One giant slip for womankind! Nasa astronauts on a rare all-female space walk drop their toolbox

Forget meteors and the Northern Lights. For sky-watchers, the real spectacle is a toolbox lost in space.

The satchel-sized bag was dropped by astronauts as they carried out external maintenance work on the International Space Station (ISS) earlier this month.

It floated away before they noticed it and it is now orbiting Earth several minutes ahead of the ISS, at around 17,000mph.

Despite the bag being 200 miles above the Earth’s surface, experts believe it should be possible to spot through binoculars or a telescope because its white surface strongly reflects the sun’s rays.

The toolbag was being used by Nasa’s Jasmin Moghbeli and Loral O’Hara during a rare all-female space walk to fix a solar panel.

No big deal, but rumor has it that this female astronaut has been a disaster from day one. Consider the source (The misogynists at 4-chan), but this thread makes some pretty damning accusations. (Link goes to screen cap, not 4-chan itself)

Texas Sucks. Avoid It

I moved to Houston and regretted it. I stuck out at work and it was impossible to save.

In Oregon, a drive to the coast can be a day trip. In Houston, going to Galveston, which is about 50 miles away, wasn't worth it unless we stayed for a weekend. I couldn't afford to ski the mountains in Oregon, but I could at least visit and snowshoe there. There aren't any mountains like that in Texas.
We visited Houston's arboretum and city gardens in our free time, but they were paved, crowded, and hot. Even in the heart of Portland, hikers can get lost alone in muddy forests.
My daily Houston commute, which could take me anywhere from one to three hours a day depending on my schedule, exhausted me. I thought I was choosing a central location when I chose our apartment, but the scale of Houston was greater than I expected.

50 miles is too far to drive for a day trip? Honey, this is Texas, that's what we call “next door”. But that's not important. Hey, not every place is the right place for everybody, which is why there are so many different places in this great nation. You like Portland? Fantastic! You get to live there. But here's the thing: I've noticed a lot of articles like this in the MSM lately. Texas sucks, Florida sucks, blah, blah, blah. Do you suppose the media is trying to stem the tide of people migrating to red states? If so, I'm all for it. People dumb enough to be influenced by the media are not people we want down here.

Proceed With Caution: 12 Power Tools That Can Kill You

Number 2 will amaze you!

2. Hedge Trimmer

Because most hedge trimmers are corded, injuries often involve electric shock or electrocution, either of which may occur if the user inadvertently cuts through the extension cord. To prevent this mishap, always keep the cord safely out of the way of the blade and your feet. Don’t use a hedge trimmer during rainy weather, or when the ground is wet and slippery. Wear shoes with nonslip soles, keep your body balanced at all times when operating the machine, and don’t overreach.

My question is, why isn't radial arm saw on the list? Those things are nasty! My late father in law, a master carpenter, was known to his grandkids as "Papa Shortfingers" due to an ill-advised attempt to rip lumber with a radial arm saw. You can do it, and he did everything right but...caught a knot. ZZIP!

WA Judge Rules That Car Manufacturers Can Legally Store Your Texts and Phone Calls Without Explicit Permission

In a move concerning privacy advocates, a federal judge last week ruled against reinstating a collective lawsuit accusing four auto manufacturing giants of contravening privacy protections in Washington state. The companies were alleged to have illicitly intercepted and documented private text messages and call records of customers using their car’s inbuilt infotainment systems.
The judge based in Seattle concluded that this activity did not constitute unauthorized privacy infringements according to state regulations.

The complainants from the existing four lawsuits had sought legal redress following a previous dismissal by another judge. In their judgment given Tuesday, the appellate judge asserted that the clandestine capture and logging of mobile phone usage did not violate the provisions of the Washington Privacy Act. According to the act, to be a vulnerable plaintiff, one must demonstrate a threat to “his or her business, his or her person, or his or her reputation.”

Blood On The Ice

Here's the anodyne version: Former NHL player Adam Johnson dies after a skate cut his neck during a game

Adam Johnson, a former NHL forward, has died after his neck was cut by another player's skate during a game Saturday in Sheffield, England. The fatal collision — which Johnson's team called a "freak accident" — occurred midway through the second period of an Elite Ice Hockey League game between Johnson's Nottingham Panthers and the Sheffield Steelers. Video footage appeared to show an opposing player's skate strike Johnson in the neck, a terrifying scene that prompted officials to empty the arena as medical personnel raced to respond.

Johnson was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead, the South Yorkshire Police said. He was 29.

“Tragic accident”, “Difficult time”. Sure. It's all those things. Now go look at the video:

WARNING! THIS IS BLOODY

Accident? My ass. He slips behind the forward entering the zone who tries to forecheck him, and clearly kicks out at Johnson. I've watched a lot of hockey, and players simply do NOT fall that way from light contact. I'm sure he didn't mean to kill Johnson, but that's not accidental contact.

Every. Single. Word. Of. This.

Accept That Savagery Is the True Nature of the World – and Deal With It

The true nature of the world is savagery.
The world's true nature is that good is forever pitted against evil.
That has never changed. What happened over the last 70 years or so was an interregnum of peace in the West, created by violence against barbarians and facilitated by people willfully looking away from the butchery still continuing at the fringes of the map. The West managed to build a civilization that was – for the first time in history since perhaps the Pax Romana – generally internally peaceful. And the West convinced itself that this was normal.
But it was not normal. It was an anomaly, a glorious one, but an anomaly nonetheless. The world is not a peaceful place, and it never was, and it never will be. Despite the best efforts of the arrogant left, human nature has not changed. Human nature is vicious and cruel. Rousseau’s noble savage nonsense, which we are still dealing with today in the form of eager sophomores in Che t-shirts slobbering over Hamas psychopaths – is a giant fraud. Savages are not distinguished by their nobility. Their savagery distinguishes them. And we need to find the moral strength to do what is necessary to defeat them.

Amen, Brother.

Related: Barbarian Invasions

~As I say, this is way beyond Jews. So I find all the scholarly references to the Six-Day War, the UN plans for Jerusalem, the British Mandate, etc, etc, frankly a bit peripheral. My own advice is simple: In any contest of Barbarians vs [Whatever], it is unlikely to work out well if you choose the side of the Barbarians. Look at that scene from Gaza. The big butch men of Hamas found a defenceless woman. So they gang-raped her, then tortured her, then killed her, then threw her in the back of the truck like a New Hampshire hunter taking his buck down to the general store to be weighed. And, when they get to the Gazan equivalent of the general store, they are welcomed as heroes, and the people dance in the streets around the poor lady's corpse, and one brave kid leaps toward the flatbed to spit on her. As I said a couple of weeks back, a generation hence that poisoned moppet will be a resident of Clichy-sous-Bois or Luton or Dearborn...

I do not wish to live among the relatively small number of savages who raped and murdered her. I do not wish to live among the far larger number of savages who dance in the street and proclaim the greatness of Allah at the sight of her defilement. I do not wish to live among children who spit on her poor broken body. I do not wish to live among sophisticated educated Turks (once Israel's best friends in the region) who rationalise such scenes. I do not wish to live among mobs who chant "Gas the Jews!" outside an opera house...

And yet my government, like yours, has invited the barbarians within the gates, and tens of millions of westerners raised to revile their own inheritance have made common cause with them. This will not end well.

This is not anything new. Barbarians have always attacked civilization. It's crystal clear which side is which.
