Biden Makes History As the Border Patrol Announces an All-Time Record in Illegal Alien Encounters

More than 300,000 immigrants attempted to enter the United States unlawfully or were paroled during August, surpassing all national records and spelling a catastrophe for the Biden administration that claimed its sweeping policy reforms were working.

In August, 304,162 people were apprehended by Border Patrol while crossing the border illegally, were deemed inadmissible by customs officers at ports of entry, or used new Biden initiatives to bypass the border and fly under the umbrella of temporary parole, according to data published by U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Friday.

The August number surpassed the record of 302,412 from December 2022.

The 304,162 is between five and 10 times higher than the average monthly totals seen during the Obama and Trump administrations.

At the southern border, 181,059 immigrants were arrested after walking around the ports of entry and crossing into the U.S. Approximately 74,000 of that number were single adults, 19,000 arrived with a family member, and 13,500 were unaccompanied children.

Since President Joe Biden took office, Border Patrol agents have apprehended more than 7 million people who illegally entered the country between ports of entry nationwide.

The surge in August is unusual because illegal immigration has historically declined during the summer months when it is extremely hot near the border. The increase could mean even higher illegal immigration when temperatures drop in the fall.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pushed back on questions about a surge at the border this week and said the numbers ebb and flow.

The Free Beacon points out that the media let Biden take credit when illegal alien crossings slackened a little bit -- and are also allowing him to pass the buck to Republicans now that border crossings are at record levels again.

He's only "president" when he has something he wants to brag about. At all other times, Dark Ultra MAGA Extremists are the ones who are really in charge.

When illegal immigration unexpectedly dipped a few months ago, Democrats and the mainstream media were quick to credit President Joe Biden. Now that the migration crisis has come back as bad as ever, the media have resumed blaming factors outside the president's control.

Then: The Biden administration in May ended the use of Title 42, a rule that allowed for quick expulsion of migrants at the border, warning that the move would likely lead to a surge at the border. But the expected influx of migrants failed to materialize, and the White House and its Democratic allies took a victory lap.

The media joined the celebration, already imagining a boost for Biden's reelection campaign.

Now: Illegal border crossings, after rising for months, this week approached record highs set last year. Overwhelmed border officials were forced to separate families and release migrants into communities. As during much of Biden's presidency, the White House and congressional Democrats blamed root causes and Republicans for the border crisis.

The media, meanwhile, returned to repeating the White House's talking points, including that new rules further incentivizing people to enter the country illegally may fix the situation.

Even the Democrat mayor of El Paso can no longer pretend on Biden's behalf that the crisis is manageable. He's declaring an emergency -- and sending five chartered buses to NYC, Chicago, and Denver.

El Paso's mayor says his city is at a breaking point. The city is opening a new shelter for illegal aliens. It has chartered five buses to transport some to New York, Chicago, and Denver. Now we're talking, Mayor Oscar Leeser. He gave a press conference on Saturday and reported that 2,000 people are seeking asylum every day. The city's shelter capacity has been exceeded. "The city of El Paso only has so many resources and we have come to ... a breaking point right now," the mayor said.

Mayor Leeser is a Democrat. He pointed out that all the El Paso buses are filled with illegals voluntarily being transported to other cities. Critics like to accuse Governor Abbott of forcing illegals on migrant buses but the truth is they ask to go to whatever city they are trying to get to. Why not? It's free transportation for them. Food and water is provided for them on the buses. They sign forms saying they are leaving Texas voluntarily. "I think it's really important to note that we have a broken immigration system," Lesser said. "It's the same thing over and over again."

Oh, and illegals are also bringing tuberculosis across the border.

What Biden wouldn't give now for another pandemic lockdown.
