The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“We have a long history in this country of statutes, at the state and a federal level, that prevent what we used to call usury – an old-fashioned word for ripping off working people. And we need to get back to it.” Sen. Josh Hawley R-MO)

Quote II

"Research that we just came up with a few moments ago indicates there is a new COVID-19 variant that specifically attacks tendons and ligaments, particularly in the ankle. So Aaron Rodgers, due to his unvaccinated state, clearly came down with a sudden case of what we are referring to, as of right now, ‘COVID ankle.'" Dr. Arthur MacArthur, a sports physician who has never treated Rodgers

Quote III

“First of all, with all due respect senator, the words you spoke are disturbing, especially coming out of your mouth, is very disturbing. But I will also tell you that we’re not advocating for kids to read porn.”Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias

Maybe I'm not HR material. But seriously folks, chillax will you?

Gunderson Dettmer got a lot of online flack last week amid reports — backed by video! — that summer associates went on an outing to a strip club. The commentariat concluded that the images didn’t reflect a genuine strip club, but rather a nightclub that still employs scantily clad go-go dancers for “atmosphere.” Not that this makes much difference when we’re talking about professionalism and sexual harassment in the workplace.

But we thought this probably stemmed from some full-time attorneys taking the misguided initiative to drag summers to the club on the firm’s dime. Sources now tell us that not only was this an officially sanctioned trip — included on the firm’s calendar of summer events — but the firm knew all about the club’s vibe.

The location is the Peek Nightclub at Harrah’s in the Lake Tahoe area. But if you’re thinking the firm stumbled into booking the hotel bar without knowing what to expect, think again… the firm has hosted summers at this club dating back a few years now

California land of sunshine, fruit and complete idiotic fruitcakes. Nuttier than the old almond ranch. Economics 101, who needs it?

CA Bill Raises Hourly Wage to $20—but There's a Catch

Sacramento, CA—California state lawmakers are attempting to pass new legislation that would bump up the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 per hour. However, it would only apply to workers at a fast-food chain that has a minimum of 60 locations nationwide. This comes after a deal with labor unions in the state and the fast food industry that would hopefully avoid a state-wide ballot initiative to do just that in 2024.

The next adventure into "Road Rage".

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A vandal was caught on video smashing a driverless Cruise car with a hammer in San Francisco.

The person in the video attacked a Cruise car at 10:59 p.m. Sunday on Buchanan Street, investigators said. Videos show the vandal slamming a hammer into the autonomous vehicle’s windshield and high-tech camera equipment dozens of times.

“Officers spoke with a witness, who said that they heard a scream and looked out their window to see the suspect standing in front of the autonomous vehicle. The suspect then began vandalizing the vehicle,” San Francisco Police Sgt. Kathryn Winters told KRON4.

Let me do some mansplain' here, Missy. The first thing you need to do is calm down.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) responded to Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen’s Monday press conference by stressing that she does not need a sheriff giving her a “lecture on constitutionality.”

Breitbart News reported that Allen used his press conference to make clear that neither he nor his deputies will enforce Grisham’s ban on concealed and open carry of firearms. He described the ban as “unconstitutional.”

We need to help New Mexico gun owners as much as we can. If this third rate politician from a small state can stifle your rights for "health emergency". What stops the Whitmers of Michigan, et al from doing the same for guns, automobiles, thermostat settings.

Yes thermostat settings. If they can ban the incandescent light bulb. Your thermostat is probably not far behind.

Normally I appreciate Rep. Matt Gaetz and his endeavors. I may be wrong here. But, I believe the time to be quiet is now.

Asking for a friend…’ Matt Gaetz reaches out to Dems in WILD warning shot at McCarthy

U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) has turned up the heat on Speaker Kevin McCarthy who could soon be facing a revolt from conservative lawmakers if he dithers over an impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden, suggesting that he is open to help from Democrats to oust the House leader.

A fierce critic of McCarthy, the Florida Republican reached out to the opposition party after Fox News host Brian Kilmeade said that Gaetz was just “speaking into the wind” with his threats to lead a mutiny against McCarthy if he drags his feet on impeachment.
