The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“He was pretty relentless in his pursuit to be here. He found his home.” Stephanie Elsey, who works as a clinical care coordinator

Quote II

"It is unfortunate but it does happen ... and we need to make sure that the employees respect the code of conduct in the CRA. It's very important to keep the trust of the population."
Marc Brière, national president of the Union of Taxation Employees

Only politicians can be grifters not lowly bureaucrats.

Quote III

"I just am happy to do it for them and to know that some dog is going to be comfortable. It makes me feel so good to know that they're not going to be laying on cement or a hard floor or in the winter." Joan Potters

Quote IV

“The hospital had a careful calculus of trying to maintain income for the institution and provide care. The compliance department had a phrase ‘management accepts risk.’ I think concurrent surgery and fraudulent billing was in the ‘management accepts’ risk category.” Dr. Stephen Adams, a family physician and Erlanger’s former chief information

Buck Throckmorton covered the UAW yesterday on a Labor Day thread. Not only has Buck pointed out the folly of the UAW and Democrats. So has President Trump.

Fortunately, neoconservatives are a dying breed in American politics. At least in the Republican Party. Thank you Lord.

The Washington Post on August 15, 2023, in a story by Mariana Alfaro, writes about Bill Kristol’s launch of “Republicans for Ukraine,” which is using a $2 million ad campaign “to get congressional Republicans to commit to continue funding aid for Ukraine ahead of what is likely to be a lengthy appropriations fight.” According to Alfaro, advertisements, which will include “testimony” from pro-Ukraine Republican voters, will appear on television, billboards, and online. After two decades of promoting failed and costly wars and interventions, Kristol and what is left of the neoconservative movement are making a last gasp at relevance by once again promoting American involvement in another war

Bill Kristol should prove his allegiance to the USA & Ukraine by being there in harm's way.

But he won't. Everybody else should die for his wet dream.

Want to Make Restaurant-Worthy Sandwiches at Home? Start Here.
The secrets to building the perfect sandwich, from the bread to the textures to the acid

Jaya Saxena is a Correspondent at Eater.com, and the series editor of Best American Food Writing. She explores wide ranging topics like labor, identity, and food culture.
AsAs a society we have a tendency to undervalue sandwiches. Pile all the ingredients for a banh mi — multiple meats, pate, pickled vegetables, herbs and sauce — on a plate and it would be considered a fine entree. Layer it between two slices of bread and it becomes a lunch that’s supposed to be cheap and quick.

Just another reason I do not attend Green Bay Packers games anymore.

Cheers! No NFL Fan Drinks Like a Packers Fan
It’s always Beer:30 for Green Bay Packers fans, who’ve had a lot of success to savor but plenty of reasons to drown their sorrows.

Nothing like passed out fans before the game starts. Or avoiding the hurled tailgate offerings on the stairwells.

You're a Marathon Runner. You are to embrace the grueling portions of the race. Judas Fvcking Priest.

More than one-third of all the registered participants in this year's XL Mexico City Telcel Marathon were later disqualified after officials learned they had not actually run the entire race.

Like all marathons, the XL Mexico City Telcel Marathon is a grueling 26.2-mile foot race. This particular race is held annually in Mexico's capital city and attracts elite athletes from across the globe. In fact, organizers of the event have even described it as "the largest athletic event of national importance" in Mexico. The marathon also has Gold Label status with World Athletics, an international organization that often sets standards for athletic competitions.

Wear your damn masks! Yes, you have to sit in puke covered seats that you paid hard earned money to lease for a couple of hours.

An Air Canada passenger claims that two of her fellow travelers were recently escorted off a plane because they refused to sit on vomit-covered seats for a five-hour flight.

Passenger Susan Benson wrote about the incident in a Facebook post on August 29. She explained that, before her flight from Las Vegas to Montreal took off, three passengers struggled to get seated because of a rancid smell.

I feel confident this whiny, sniveling Buttercup will not be moving to the Frozen Tundra anytime in my lifetime or his.

A lot of people, including myself, move from California to Austin because of the hype and the perception that California and Austin are reasonably comparable in lifestyle. My family and I found that to be far from the case.

Here's what we learned, or 10 reasons that Austin is not the "California of Texas." But first, what does Austin have in common with California?

Austin, like California, is not affordable.
The thing that California and Austin definitely have in common is that they're both very expensive. Austin is not cheap. Let the words sink in. Austin is not cheap; it's actually quite expensive.

My guess true Texans said "Bon voyage" or "Bless your heart" or something quaint to Brett.

Too good to save until Saturday's ONT. Holy Sh!T!!!

A plane to Barcelona was forced to turn around after a passenger on board suffered a bout of diarrhoea that was declared a ‘biohazard’.

Imagine taking a poop so explosive that it grounded a nine-hour intercontinental flight with more than 336 people on board. Surely, life will never be the same…

Just Kidding. Lighten up.

Moving water is quite dangerous. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

During a hiking trip in Fundy National Park, New Brunswick, a group of swimmers had the good fortune of being found by some hikers that included an off-duty police officer who ended up saving their friend from a raging edy.

The officer, Bruce Lake, was exploring the Laverty Falls area with his wife and friends, and though being hailed as a hero, he was initially told that everything was okay.
