Kohberger DM'd One of the Female Victims Repeatedly Before She Was Murdered

Creeper.

From the first moments when police arrested grad student Bryan Kohberger for this crime, the obvious question has been about his motive. When the probable cause affidavit was released earlier this month there was plenty of evidence, including DNA and an eyewitness, connecting Kohberger to the crime. There was even some indication that he'd been stalking the apartment.

I believe that evidence was his cellphone pinging in the vicinity of the apartment, on nights before the murders. His cellphone did not ping at all on the night of the murders, indicating he had, for reasons one can guess, turned it off and maybe removed the battery (if that's even possible any longer).

What was missing was any clear connection to anyone who lived there. But yesterday, People Magazine reported that Kohberger had in fact DM'd one of the girls in the apartment on several occasions.

From People:

Two weeks before the slayings of four University of Idaho students last November, the man now accused of killing them sent a series of messages to one of the victims on Instagram, an investigator familiar with the case tells PEOPLE...

"He slid into one of the girls' DMs several times but she didn't respond," the source tells PEOPLE. "Basically, it was just him saying, 'Hey, how are you?' But he did it again and again."...

"He was persistent," an investigative source on the case tells PEOPLE[.]

A girl went on a date with him on Tinder. Although she says she never felt like she was in danger, he was very creepy and awkward and kept touching her and then insisting that he was not touching her.

A lot of people would over-dramatize their encounter with a killer. I think she's under-dramatizing it. She keeps saying that this was just "awkward" and not threatening and I'm like a black girl at a movie: "Girl, you best get your ass out of there!"

Oh! I just realized-- she's not underplaying it, she's being defensive. The internet being the internet, she's probably getting grief that she didn't run to the police and tell them "I know who the killer is!" based on one date with a weirdo. So she's trying to explain, yes, it was awkward and he was weird, but no, I had no reason to suspect he was a murderer, so leave me alone you weirdoes, and stop speculating that I was "concealing the identity of the killer" or whatever you "Internet Sleuths" are up to.

After she faked vomiting to get him to leave, he later texted her to tell her, "You have good birthing hips." That's what we call "a real panty-dropper." The clip is at TikTok so view with appropriate caution and say hi to Chairman Xi.

Update: Apparently he also ate at the restaurant where two of the victims worked.

A former employee of a local restaurant where two of the slain University of Idaho students worked says murder suspect Bryan Kohberger visited the establishment at least twice.

In a Thursday report from People, an anonymous employee of Mad Greek restaurant in the college town of Moscow, Idaho, revealed that Kohberger came in and ate where Madison Mogen and Xana Kernodle also worked as waitresses.

In more murder news:

Evidence against Brian Walshe was presented. He's accused of killing his wife, then dismembering and hiding her body. Some of the evidence presented is his google searches for "How to dismember your wife's body." Well okay, he didn't search for "wife's body" specifically, but just how to dismember any body. Such as, for example, his wife's.

It's hard to prove murder without a body but a google search like that will help.

Beland presented an array of evidence that led to the charges against the husband, including discoveries of Ana Walshe's blood and personal items in local garbage, phone data showing Brian Walshe's movements, and his alleged Google searches related to dismembering and disposing of a body.

Investigators have been searching for Ana Walshe since her workplace reported her missing on January 4. Wednesday marks the first time prosecutors have said she is believed to be dead, though they did not say whether her body has been found.

Brian Walshe allegedly told police his wife left their home for a work trip to Washington, DC, around 6 a.m. New Year's Day. But Beland said there is no record of Ana taking such a trip and the wife's phone continued to ping in the area of the house until around 3 a.m. on January 2.

Asked for his plea, Walshe said, "I plead Gone Girl, your honor."

This post has taken a nasty turn but they say when you start to skid you should just turn right into it so, a Pennsylvania girl is accused of shooting her parents and dismembering their bodies with a chainsaw.

This may conjure images of Lizzie Borden but the daughter is 43.

Verity Beck, 43, faces charges of first and third-degree murder for the killing of 73-year-old Reid Beck and 72-year-old Miriam Beck, and is currently being held without bail.

Verity. Sounds like a Stephen King character.

According to 6ABC, the murders are believed to have taken place on January 7, however, it was not until Tuesday, over a week later, that police were finally called to the Beck home, where Verity lived with her parents, in Jenkinstown and discovered the bodies.

Verity's brother made the call to law enforcement after visiting the home and seeing what appeared to be a body under a sheet. She pleaded with him that she needed "more time," but he dialed 911 as soon as he returned to his house that night.

For a week prior, he had been texting who he believed to be his parents, but in reality, it was Verity using their phones.

"Their voices were last heard by a family member on the 7th of January," Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele explained during a press conference, "so we believe that they may have been decomposing during that time."

The bodies were found in "various stages of dismemberment."

Finally, the Mall of America shooter, who, along with another man, stood over the body of their victim and shot him "multiple times" on December 23rd, has been arrested, after being on the lam since Christmas.

His mother was driving him around in his fugitive flight.

A juvenile suspected in the Dec. 23 killing at the Mall of America was arrested in Decatur, Ga., on Tuesday, according to Bloomington police, as was his mother who police say drove him to Georgia after the shooting.

The juvenile was arrested on a warrant charging him with second-degree homicide and assault in relation to the death of Johntae Hudson, Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said Tuesday. U.S. Marshals and Georgia law enforcement arrested him without incident, Hodges said.

The juvenile's mother, whom Hodges identified as Erica McMillian of Minneapolis, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Golden Valley. Hodges said she will be charged with aiding and abetting after police said she drove her son to Georgia.

"Anybody that's helped any of these folks is going to jail," Hodges said. "I fully expect there to be more arrests that come out of this."

Women never go to jail.

Here's a feel-good crime story: and armed robber charged into a gas station "jabbering" about money. When the robber became distracted by another customer, the clerk took the opportunity to draw his own gun and shoot him.

When the suspect took aim at a customer, Brian reckoned it was pretty obvious what he in turn had to do.

"I had the opening to pull my gun and shoot," the clerk told KPNX. "That's pretty much the whole thing."

Brian elsewhere underscored that he has long trained with a gun.

According to police, the "suspect became distracted by another person in the store and the store employee took the opportunity to pull out and use his own firearm, shooting and injuring the suspect."

"I'm not happy I had to shoot him, but I'm not stressing. The moment he pulled the gun on me he set the situation and I just followed it. He made the situation what it was," added Brian.

An employee told the Arizona Republic that "everybody is fine," except, of course, for the suspect who was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Brian will reportedly not be charged for restoring order at dawn.

Despite this outcome, Joshua Black, an employment attorney, suggested to AZ Family, "My advice would be to someone working at a gas station would be, do not carry a gun. Do not bring a gun. There is nothing at that job that is worth risking your life."

There is no shortage of robbery survivors who might feel compelled to discount Black's recommendation.

It is true that no money is worth a deadly physical confrontation. Especially not someone else's money. But you don't know what a deranged asshole with a gun might want.

A friend of mine used to work at a gas station and got robbed at gunpoint all the time. He handed over the owner's money from the till without argument (but not the money from the safe, which he couldn't get t0).

When a robber demanded the keys to his own car at gunpoint, he said, "No." The guy shoot the gun in his face and he just said levelly, "No, I'm not giving you my car."

They guy eventually ran off when he realized he'd have to kill him to get that car.

As noted Pimpslayer Clarence Whorley said, I'd rather have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it.
