The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Strategic considerations are famously absent from most political decisions in our current dysfunctional federal government. So having specific policy goals that address long-term issues with concrete answers is a very good thing.

Chinese expansion is a strategic problem that is being carefully ignored by our bought-and-paid-for congress. And it is an issue that is going to get more and more important as the Chinese demographic time-bomb gets closer to detonation. Controlling farmland outside of its borders is one way for China to guarantee a minimum amount of agricultural production for its rapidly aging population that soon will not be able to feed itself. Controlling offshore industrial production of certain key industries is a strategically sound move to ensure supplies of vital products.

But America shouldn't be in the position of losing its own strategic industries to ease China's possibly existential problems. And Donald Trump has the answer, which is a refreshing and long overdue change in his usual pattern of bluster and backward looking anger at the loss by theft of the 2020 election.

Trump Vows to Ban Chinese Investment, Ownership in US If President Again

"China is buying up our technology. They're buying up food supplies. They're buying up our farmland. They're buying up our minerals and natural resources. They're buying up our ports and shipping terminals. And with the help of corrupt influence-peddlers like the Biden crime family, China is even trying to buy up the pillars of the U.S. energy industry[...]"

"We should stop all future Chinese purchases in these essential industries. And we should begin the process of forcing the Chinese to sell any current holdings that put our national security at risk. If we don't do this, the United States will be owned by China, which would make them very happy.

This is a hard-nosed politician providing a solid and easily understood platform on which to run a campaign for president. It is a stance that is at once rational, doable, and very popular with the American people. It is a recipe for electoral success (ignoring the significant structural problems), and if extended to a comprehensive platform on which to run will go a long way toward easing the concerns among the undecided about a Trump candidacy.

Now I want to hear about how candidate Donald Trump will deal with the other invasion and theft of American resources; the uncontrolled southern border.

Here is Victor Davis Hanson explaining the current crisis: Mexico, America's friend?
[Hat Tip: TC]

Biden has demolished America's southern border. His illegal nullification of U.S. immigration law is music to Obrador's ears.

But it is a nightmare to Americans who poll overwhelming disapproval of the subversion of their own border security. They are exhausted by the influx of death-dealing drugs. And they are furious over the hundreds of billions of dollars diverted from their own strapped social services to attend to the needs of foreign nationals who have broken their laws.

Even overwhelmed blue sanctuary cities that once boasted of nullifying federal immigration law are now beginning to object to Biden's complicity in Mexico's manipulation of the border.

Obrador clearly is delighted that Biden is the first White House occupant who in matters of the shared southern border grants all of Mexico's wishes, but almost none of his own citizens'.

That reality raises the question that if Mexico were a declared enemy of the United States, how would it behave any differently than it is now?

As president, Donald Trump made the case for a border wall and aggressive enforcement of our immigration laws, but fast forward four years and the issue has gotten much, much worse. We will have an additional five...six...twenty...who-knows-how-many million illegals in the country, busily sucking up every penny of government spending, and happily voting (illegally) for their Democrat paymasters.

What is Donald Trump's plan to deal with that?

And as long as we are asking about his platform; what is Donald Trump's plan to deal with the rapidly expanding American presence in Russia's backyard war? And while most Americans don't give a rat's ass about Ukraine, our brilliant elites care very much about it, and I wouldn't put it past them to involve American forces in the fight, because they never met a war they didn't want in on...with other people's blood spilled.
