Saturday Night Live "Comedy" Writers Boycott Show Over Choice of Dave Chappelle As Host

When Seinfeld hosted in the 90s, he had to bring in his own writers to make the show funny.

Chappelle was probably planning on using his own writers anyway.

We're told that some staff writers are so furious that the comedy superstar -- who has made transphobic and homophobic jokes -- has been chosen to helm the iconic show that they're sitting out the episode.

"They're not going to do the show," an insider told Page Six. "But none of the actors are boycotting."

But Chappelle's rep told us that there was nothing to suggest that there was a boycott when they attended writers' meetings this week.

I'm going to guess it's a couple of Gender Diversity Hires that never get any sketches on the air before 12:55 am anyway.

Update: Plot twist-- there is no plot twist. We all saw it coming.

After the announcement, "SNL" writer Celeste Yim reportedly wrote on Instagram Stories: "I'm trans and non-binary. I use they/them pronouns. Transphobia is murder and it should be condemned."

If you're "non-binary," how can you be "trans"? What are you trans-ing into if you claim there's no gender binary? If there are no genders how can you transition from one gender to another?

Some people wrongly claim this is funny.

But is it actually funny, or do you just approve of the basic message that covid is no longer a serious disease, but people are still pretending it is?

If it's the latter, then this is just clapper "humor" for you. Not actually funny. A statement that people agree with dressed up with humorous trappings is not actual comedy.
