Election News Round Up 2

Black pastor delivers anti-Biden sermon.

I forgot to mention, according to that Harvard-HarrisX poll, Trump and Pence have the
highest approval ratings of any politician. Though Trump's disapproval ties his approval, 47-47.

Better than Biden's, though, at 43-51.

Biden has both lower overall approval than either Trump or Pence, but his net approval is underwater by 8 points. That is just deadly, electorally speaking.

Findings here.

Barack Obama, a buzzkill of a cancel culture warrior himself, accused fellow Democrats of being buzzkills and always lecturing everyone.

Obama bashes woke Dems! Former president complains Democrats are BUZZKILLS - who make people 'walk on eggshells' ahead of midterm election campaign

Former President Barack Obama took some shots at his fellow Democrats, calling them 'buzzkills' and lamenting cancel culture in an interview Friday

Obama, speaking to four of his former employees on the Pod Save America podcast, said that not being a buzzkill gives him satisfaction

You are, though.

'Sometimes Democrats are [buzzkills]. Sometimes people just want to not feel as if they are walking on eggshells,' he said

Obama added that his fellow Dems should learn from what he felt were his mistakes as president, like being too professorial

The only self-criticism liberal Democrats will ever allow themselves is, "Maybe we were too intellectual and policy-focused."

Former President Barack Obama took some shots at his fellow Democrats, calling them 'buzzkills' and says their rhetoric forces people to 'walk on eggshells.'

Obama, speaking to four of his former employees on the Pod Save America podcast, said that some people within his party need to cool down the temperature and understand that everyone makes mistakes.

He said: 'Sometimes Democrats are [buzzkills]. Sometimes people just want to not feel as if they are walking on eggshells, and they want some acknowledgment that life is messy and that all of us, at any given moment, can say things the wrong way, make mistakes.'

Obama added that his fellow Dems should learn from what he felt were his mistakes as president, saying: 'I used to get into trouble whenever, as you guys know well, whenever I got a little too professorial and, you know, started ... when I was behind the podium as opposed to when I was in a crowd, there were times where I'd get, you know, sound like I was giving a bunch of policy gobbledygook.'

He noted: 'That's not how people think about these issues. They think about them in terms of the life I'm leading day to day. How does politics, how is it even relevant to the things that I care the most deeply about?'

"That's not who we are," Woke Democrat Apostle Obama lectures Woke Democrat Followers.

Wow. Self-awareness level zero.

And also: Not really the right time for this advice. There's nothing that Democrats can do now to shake off their embrace of cancel culture and woke politics.

Where were you two years ago? Or fourteen years ago, when you rode woke politics and cancel culture into the White House?

You're not giving advice to Democrats; you're insulating yourself from blame.

Meanwhile, Democrats are making plans to put Pop-Pop in a home that isn't the White House. (The American public has similar plans.)

In addition to talk about perennial candidate Bernie Sanders running again, feast your eyes on these amazing possible replacement losers:

Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who each spent considerable time there during the last cycle, have already made the trek, while Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., has also gone several times. Sens. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) and Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), and Illinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker (D) have touched down too.

"It's going to be the Bernie effect," said McKenzie Wilson, who serves as communications director at the polling outfit Data for Progress.

"If you can get J. B. Pritzker to run, who's been very pushed to the left by progressives in Illinois very successfully, is that a win?" she asked about the billionaire Biden ally who has been talked about as a future candidate.

It's not just Democrats making contingency plans for themselves. Progressives are eyeing other possible presidential hopefuls to try to figure out on what issues they could be moved leftward.

Another Biden confidant, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), has also been mentioned.

Biden dismissed any talk of replacing him as nominee, speaking with his usual eloquence:

Must have been the "stutter."

Speaking of people with speaking problems that have nothing at all to do with their neurological defects:

John Fetterman & His Morbid Growth vows that if you send him to DC, he will fight against "work to work." Someone in the crowd, possibly a plant paid to applaud for anything, cheers.

The media is still trying to work out the kinks of how to report on John Fetterman & His Morbid Growth -- do we admit he's a disability, and then shame people for noticing is disability? Or do we just pretend he's not disabled at all?

Below, a propaganda outlet ran a headline with "disability" in the headline -- and then were forced to edit that away, after the Fetterman campaign and leftists shrieked they'd #cancel the outlet if they didn't.

Gisele Fetterman, wife of John Fetterman & His Morbid Growth, demanded "consequences" for the actual journalist who reported on her husband's obvious cognitive defect.

Will McDuffie @wrmcduff

Gisele Fetterman with harsh words for NBC's Dasha Burns, saying her description of "small talk" with her husband left her feeling close to "rage."

"I don't know how there were not consequences."

Indicated that she wants an apology, but it hasn't come.

More here.

By the way, John Fetterman & His Morbid Growth were only able to remain in the race this long because Gisele Fetterman stepped in and became "the de facto candidate," answering questions for him. After complaints from Gisele Fetterman, the reporter omitted the line "de facto candidate" from her Tweet -- but it remains in her article.

Kari Lake once again shows the way forward for all Republicans:

She's got a big endorser coming to campaign for her:

Eric Cortellessa @EricCortellessa

Scoop: Tulsi Gabbard is flying into Phoenix, AZ tomorrow to campaign for @KariLake.

Katie Hobbs hiding in bathrooms to escape a reporter from asking her questions.

She's now even embarrassing and worrying her supporters, with her absolute determination to not even be present in the same room as Kari Lake.

Supporters of Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs are seeing reasons to worry in the final weeks of the contest. This was supposed to be the week when Hobbs and Kari Lake would finally debate and the public would be able to see them stake out their positions face-to-face. The debate was being organized by PBS and the Arizona Clean Election Commission and had been highly anticipated. But then, in a series of upheavals, Hobbs refused to participate in the debate, saying that the two candidates should do one-on-one interviews instead. Following that, what should have been two separate interviews suddenly turned into one interview when Hobbs walked away from even doing an interview. Arizona Central described how PBS had "botched" the process, robbing voters of the opportunity to see the candidates put through their paces, but it's unclear what more they could have done.

Originally Arizona PBS and the Arizona Citizens Clean Election Commission partnered for a proposed debate between Democratic candidate Katie Hobbs and Republican candidate Kari Lake. First, the debate became a non-debate when Hobbs declined to participate, becoming a one-sided interview with Lake instead.

Yesterday, after some ill-considered back-door deal making it almost became two separate interviews. And then poof!

It all went away. It played out in real-time as one of the more bizarre days in a campaign that's been odd from the start.

As I already suggested, what are the debate organizers and moderators supposed to do when one of the candidates flatly refuses to show up and take on her opponent face-to-face? It's not as if PBS can send out some goons with rifles to force her up to the podium. (They aren't Merrick Garland's Justice Department, after all.) Kari Lake has shown up all across the state any time someone invites her and sometimes when they don't. Hobbs has been avoiding Kari Lake like the plague.

This isn't the first time we've seen Katie Hobbs running like a frightened sheep. During a town hall last week, Hobbs refused to take the stage until Lake had been escorted from the building. She didn't even have enough spine to speak to the moderators in front of an audience if her opponent was even within eyesight.

Even leftwing jokeshow CNN was forced to ask Katie Hobbs what exactly she is so terrified about -- why is she the first Arizona gubernatorial candidate in history to refuse a debate with her opponent?

And why does she refuse to plainly state her position on abortion?

BASH: A lot of Democrats are questioning your decision. And they're saying it's the wrong decision.

President Biden's former 2020 co-chair said: "I would debate, and I would want the people of Arizona to know what my platform is."

If you think she’s as dangerous as you're saying to democracy, is it your responsibility as a candidate who wants to run Arizona to show and explain who their alternative is?

HOBBS: That is exactly what I'm doing right now.

The Democrat Party, everyone. A Party of stunted, catty, nasty Mouse-Girls.

She refused once again to say clearly that she supported abortion until the final second of crowning. She just kept repeating that it should be "between a woman and her doctor."

HOBBS: Look, when you're talking about late-term abortion, that is incredibly, extremely rare. And it's happening if there is -- if that conversation is happening, it's because there's something that's gone incredibly wrong in the pregnancy. And politicians do not belong in that decision. There's no one-size...

BASH: But what do you support? What should the limits be?

HOBBS: The decision about abortion should be between a patient and their doctor.

BASH: So there should be no limits in the law? It should only be decided in the medical office?

HOBBS: Government making these kinds of mandates interferes with the care that doctors need to provide to their patients. They don't belong in these decisions.

BASH: OK. So, just to be clear, if you become governor, you will push for a law that has absolutely no limits in any point of the pregnancy on abortion? That's your position? That's what you would want to be the law of the land in Arizona?

HOBBS: The fact is right now that we have very limited options, and that we need to get politicians out of the way and let doctors provide the care that they are trained to provide, the health care that their patients need. Politicians don't belong in those decisions.

If the Democrats' position on abortion is such a #Winner, why are they so terrified to utter it?

More proof that Democrats are afraid: they're pretending they're not Democrats. A progressive New Mexico candidate has deleted his old progressive tweets so that he can pretend to be a "moderate."

And totally in favor of oil exploration.

Like Joe Biden!

A Democratic House candidate in New Mexico, campaigning as a moderate in a tightly contested race, deleted tweets attacking the oil and gas industry, rationalizing rioting in summer 2020, and comparing the Trump administration to the Ku Klux Klan.

The deleted tweets reviewed by CNN's KFile on the oil and gas industry could prove problematic for Gabe Vasquez, a former city councilman running against incumbent Republican Rep. Yvette Herrell in New Mexico's second congressional district. The energy-rich region is part of America's most active area of oil and gas production.

Vasquez, who has promoted himself in interviews during his campaign as a supporter of the region's fossil fuel industry calling it "incredibly important," previously called it "extremely toxic" and "irresponsible" in since-removed comments on social media.

Meanwhile, a couple of states over, Mayra Flores, who won Texas-34 in a special election for the first time in 100 years, may win it again in November. This is in some doubt because the boundaries were redrawn for the November race, making it more of a Democrat district.

While Cook Political Report had rated the seat as "Lean Dem," they just changed their rating to Toss-Up.

The very nonfluential Cenk Uygur has the sads:

@cenkuygur

It looks like we're going to lose the midterms. People will look back at Democrat's inability to pass voting rights legislation as the moment we lost everything. Stunning failure of epic proportions. And everyone in DC yawned because they're used to excusing Democratic failures.

Thanks to Jane D'oh for that.
