THE MORNING RANT: Net Zero is our Great Leap Forward, and “polite conservatives” are willing to let it happen

The western world is embarking on an unprecedented experiment in reorganizing society, including an overhaul of how electricity is generated, how food is grown, how industry operates, and what freedoms must be restricted (or eliminated.)

Called “Net Zero” by elites, and called “The Green New Deal” by populist leftists, carbon-based fuels will be outlawed, as will everything that relies on them, including cars as we know them, gas furnaces, fertilizer production, and almost all energy production.

Actually, such a radical overhaul of all aspects of a civilization is not unprecedented. This is starting to very much resemble Mao’s “Great Leap Forward.” And that is terrifying beyond imagination.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Great Leap Forward, a brief synopsis from Investopedia is quoted below.

In these quotes I have taken the liberty of inserting [in brackets] the current Net Zero objectives to show how closely they parallel with the objectives of the Great Leap Forward - objectives which induced famine and a massive body count.

The Great Leap Forward [Net Zero] was a five-year economic plan executed by Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party, begun in 1958 and abandoned in 1961.

The goal was to modernize the country's agricultural [energy] sector using communist [green] economic ideologies.

Instead of stimulating the country's economy [stopping climate change], The Great Leap Forward [Net Zero] resulted in mass starvation and famine.

It is estimated that between 30 and 45 million Chinese citizens died due to famine, execution, and forced labor, along with massive economic and environmental destruction.

Private plot farming [fertilizer-based farming] was abolished and rural farmers were forced to work on collective farms [organic farms] where all production, resource allocation, and food distribution was centrally controlled by the Communist Party [World Economic Forum]. Large-scale irrigation projects [renewable energy projects], with little input from trained engineers, were initiated, and experimental, unproven new agricultural techniques [organic fertilizer-free farming], were quickly introduced around the country.

Large-scale state projects to increase industrial production were introduced in urban areas, and backyard steel furnaces were built on farms and in urban neighborhoods. Steel production [renewable energy], was targeted to double in the first year of the Great Leap Forward [Net Zero], and Mao forecast that Chinese industrial output would exceed Britain’s within 15 years. The backyard steel industry [solar panels and wind turbines] produced largely useless, low-quality pig iron [unreliable, intermittent renewable energy].

To be fair, although executions were part of the Great Leap Forward, no one on the enviro-left is actively promoting executions right now. But the left is actively promoting population reduction, and they are already comfortable with the concept of inflicting hunger on people to save the planet. The German Food and Agriculture Minister, Cem Özdemir, recently stated that ”Hunger is no argument against bio diversity and protection of the climate.”

Don’t forget that the people seeking to reorganize all of civilization consider carbon dioxide (CO2) to be a form of pollution. You and your loved ones exhale CO2 with every breath. Think about the people who favor the killing of full-term, viable babies, and who support the sterilization and mutilation of teenagers who are going through a phase. These are the same zealots who believe survival of the planet is at stake unless we achieve Net Zero. Do you think they would have any problem rationalizing the need to radically reduce your family’s CO2 output by reducing the headcount of your family?

Almost as terrifying as the leftists pursuing a modern Great Leap Forward are the Republicans and “polite conservatives” who treat the Net Zero goals as if they were just another Democrat bill to raise taxes or create a new federal agency.

Even worse is that these same polite conservatives would rather have “respectable” Democrats like Joe Biden and Charles Schumer outlaw carbon-based freedom than see icky people like Marjorie Taylor Greene stop them. In fact, you’ll notice that the faux-conservatives of Conservative, Inc. are now trying to undermine the Senate campaigns of real conservatives JD Vance, Herschel Walker, and Blake Masters because these candidates are unpolished or “too extreme.” So instead, polite conservatives are trying to elect communists like Raphael Warnock and Tim Ryan who will vote to impose Net Zero on you.

Also, the left will never relax as it tries to impose its agenda, even on those of us in deep red areas who vote for freedom. The Tennessee Valley Authority is producing abundant, inexpensive electricity for much of the South, primarily with nuclear and natural gas. Of note, its carbon emissions decreased 57% from 2005 to 2021, primarily because it replaced coal with cheap, abundant natural gas. (Thank you, frackers!)

But Biden and the Democrats want to impose the blackouts and energy shortages of California on Tennessee and surrounding areas.

TVA board nominees pledge support for renewables, nuclear, efficiency to decarbonize Tennessee Valley

Three men President Joe Biden has nominated to serve on the TVA board all voiced support Wednesday for more renewable energy and for promoting more energy efficiency in the Tennessee Valley.

The chairman [Sen. Edward Markey, D-Massachusetts] of a U.S. Senate panel reviewing board nominations for the Tennessee Valley Authority on Wednesday denounced TVA's commitment to energy efficiency and renewables as "disgusting" and urged the federal utility to change from being a laggard to a leader among Southern utilities using solar, wind and other renewable sources and in promoting energy efficiency for its customers.

Moderate Republicans – those who are willing to let the left impose Net Zero on this country - believe that if its targets prove to be unobtainable, then Net Zero climate mandates will simply have to be revised. But once our modern industrial and agricultural society has been destroyed, you can’t just flip a switch and turn it back on.

It’s not enough for those who oppose Net Zero to just shrug and say “don’t worry, it’s not feasible.” Those trying to impose enviro-communism on us genuinely believe it can work – just like Mao, Stalin, Castro, and Pol Pot genuinely believed that their re-organizations of society could be achieved.

Net Zero must be stopped. Unapologetically. Without any deference to “climate” or any pretense of reducing carbon. The nightmare of a western Great Leap Forward is fast approaching.
