First-World Problems...
Sure...that means something...right? But this particular brand of automobile is too special to allow the basic car code reader to make heads or tails out of it. That would be too easy!
So the reasonably competent service station to which I brought the car for a couple of maintenance issues and to read the codes called me to tell me that everything was all set, but the fault reported was a "General Steering Wheel Fault." That meant nothing to them, and even less to me, so I had to spend some time on the internet trying to figure it out.
So according to the internet it is a fault in the turn signal lever or the wiper lever. Oh! That helps tremendously! But both work fine. Neither one sticks, all of the settings work correctly, the lights operate correctly, etc.
And to make it even more helpful there is no way to turn off the "Check Engine" light without the proprietary software from the manufacturer. That is a much larger issue than it seems at first glance...just ask the thousands of farmers who own John Deere equipment and are forced to use factory mechanics to repair their stuff, because of proprietary software that runs their tractors and combines.
