The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

As the drunken and demented speaker of the house wanders off to Asia on a junket whose purpose is murky at best and destructive at worst, the bought-and-paid-for national media isn't bothering with pesky and unwelcome questions like: "Madame Speaker, why are you going to Asia?"

Pelosi said in a statement she is leading a congressional delegation to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan to discuss trade, the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, security and "democratic governance."

Oh good! A prepared statement. That answers all of the questions.

Ignoring the time-honored congressional perk of going on taxpayer-paid vacations, complete with well-stocked bar (and underage hookers?), the timing of this visit is awkward and potentially inflammatory. Will she visit Taiwan? It is the administration -- not Congress -- that is responsible for foreign policy, and at a time when tensions with China are high, we do not need competing chaotic messages...we get plenty from the White House!

But the situation is getting better and better, as we just got this news!

Who knows what is going on. But that is a lot of tanker support!

Pelosi and her equally corrupt husband were caught front-running* trading some semiconductor stock (on her inside information obviously!) and had to dump it because of the optics. Never mind that you and I would have gone to jail for the same thing! Is this trip somehow connected to their insider trading of stocks in an industry that is on the verge of receiving a huge payday from uncle sugar?

And if she goes to Taiwan, and it looks like she is (her plane has reportedly landed there), it will ratchet up tensions with China, but if she doesn't go to Taiwan that will be seen as a snub of Taiwan and their struggle against the communist mainland and its lust for their riches.

So what is the point of this trip? Obviously there is some grift in play, because Pelosi and her sleazy ilk don't get out of bed every morning without a plan to steal some taxpayer money. Or is it some demented power play between two senile politicians? Is this Pelosi's first move in some far-fetched game to become president...showing America that she has foreign policy chops? Probably not, but I imagine that she has dreamed of the oval office, so I wouldn't put anything past her.

One thing we can all count on is that the results of this trip will be bad for America, bad for the American people, but good for a small number of well-connected grifters inside the beltway, and some congressmen, but I repeat myself.
