I hope they're still making women like my momma. She always told me to do the right thing. She always told me to have pride in myself; she said a good name is better than money.
-- Joe Louis
Ours may become the first civilization destroyed, not by the power of our enemies, but by the ignorance of our teachers and the dangerous nonsense they are teaching our children. In an age of artificial intelligence, they are creating artificial stupidity.
-- Thomas Sowell
You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.
-- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
My object in life is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.

Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself.

There's a reason I don't write the Overnight Threads very often...Damn, it's a lot of work! Even one like tonight's that looks suspiciously like it is being mailed in because it usually takes me many hours to write one, and I don't have the luxury of that much time. But I have learned something in the years I have written for AoSHQ; no matter what I think is the best part of the thread, you maniacs will talk about something else. So that is the theme of tonight's ONT.
Something Else!

How about a few fun movie scenes to go with my very questionable taste in music? "The Last Boy Scout" is formulaic and predicable, but for pure entertainment it's worth a watch, with some solid character actors everyone recognizes. And I know that Sarandon and Robbins are both idiot liberals, but as baseball movies go, "Bull Durham" is hard to beat.
I'm almost 29, and I often find myself thinking of my youth...hell, it's been 12 years since high school! With that temporal separation comes a romantic vision of a simple and sweet and uncomplicated time. Whether we remember correctly is open to debate, but it is certainly amusing, especially when there are youngsters around and we can pretend that it was practically the frontier when we walked to school.

Okay, I may have been less than forthcoming about my lack of preparation. I did in fact prepare for this ONT, but at dinner about 45 minutes ago, and that was after a very good gin martini (Shaken with a twist...and of course a splash of vermouth). But I have two more points. Probably two too many, but hey, the Platinum members don't even see this blather, so pony up!
DATA ARE! I will accept no substitutes. "Data" is a plural noun. So...Duh! "Are" is the only way to go. And if you don't like it I will fight you.
And another thing (serious yes, and I apologize for that), Anthony Fauci is a scum-sucking pig from hell, and my most fervent desire is that he dies of a loathsome disease, in great pain, forgotten by all of his loved ones (if there are any that exist), vomiting and shitting on himself as he withers away in agony. What?" Stroking out too? Okay!
