Negotiations for a new national contract between the parties in the National Railway Labor Conference entered their third year in 2022. This is the group made up of Class I railroad management representatives and railroad union officials responsible for defining the new terms. The process has progressed to the end of the tracks. The parties are in a 30-day cooling-off period prescribed by the Railway Labor Act (RLA). The period ends July 18. In anticipation, some unions are taking a strike authorization vote.

On Tuesday, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) announced that 99.5% of their participating members voted to authorize a strike. The union represents more than 57,000 railroad workers, 23,000 of which are affected by the current negotiations. It would be a challenge for anyone to find a vote taken by a union in any industry that ended up with a nearly 100% agreement. The BLET is one of the 12 unions involved in the current negotiations

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem will be the keynote speaker at Young Americas Foundation's annual National Conservative Student Conference July 25-30, a high-profile event that suggests Noem could be exploring a run at the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

According to the Washington Examiner, Noem will address hundreds of young conservatives July 28 in Washington D.C., in what's being billed as the "biggest, student-only, conservative conference of the summer."

As many of you know I have 3 children. All 3 are alive and well. I cannot imagine the pain and grief of losing a child to any cause, let alone an armed mass murderer.

The Austin American-Statesman wrote an op-ed to explain their decision to publish the video. It claims that some of the families were told of what is on the video footage.

In a series of posts on Twitter, Kevin Cate recounted his experience with a man he met at a Waffle House restaurant in Midway, Fla., last week.

Cate, a former Barack Obama campaign spokesman and the son of WFLA anchor Keith Cate, said he saw the man sitting alone in a booth, attaching money to some notes.
