Jury Finds One Count of Defamation Against Johnny Depp for $2 Million

The jury has rejected one of Amber Turd's counter-suit allegations, but finds that another statement is defamatory and also made with actual malice.

The statement which was found to be defamatory was this one, published in the April 27 2020 online edition of the Daily Mail, apparently made by Depp's former lawyer Adam Waldron: "This was an ambush, a hoax. They set Mr. Depp up by calling the cops, but the first attempt did not do the trick. The officers came to the penthouses, thoroughly searched and interviewed, and left after finding no damage to face or property so Amber and her friends and spilled a little wine and roughed the place up, got their story straight under the direction a lawyer and a publicist and placed a second call to 911."

So the jury is saying that this second statement, alleging some kind of organized ambush and hoax and set-up, was defamatory.

The jury found the statement was made at the direction of Depp so they found him to be the one liable for it.

The five million in punitive damages the jury awarded Depp was reduced to $350,000, because Virginia law caps punitive damages at that level.

I think the jury was sending Amber Turd a message in awarding her a " " " deuce " " " in damages on Count Number Two.
