Well, okay, if I'm being fair... should I be fair...?
If I'm being completely fair, the Sensitive Content warning is about the N@zi symbol.
Which may be ticky-tack given the non-offensive context, but... you know, given that these sonsabitches abuse any kind of allowance we give them for evaluating context on a case-by-case basis, I guess if there's going to be a warning at all, it has to be applied in all instances, no matter what the context.
Seth Dillon talks about how Twitter suspending the Bee led to the Musk taking over Bee. He notes that Twitter doesn't delete the tweets they claim are offensive themselves-- they demand that you do it, making you a key actor in your own censorship.
He also talks about Taylor Lorenz doxxing Libs of TikTok, and claiming that she doxed her because, Lorenz claims, what if Libs of TikTok were a "foreign actor"?
What if she were Muh Russian Disinformation?
But in that case -- why dox her after finding out she wasn't a RUSSIAN AGENT?
He talks about the left's determination that they must quash all speech they don't like in the interests of "Muh Safety."
I'd also point out that breeds... aggression and cruelty.
Because what we have seen time and time again is that regimes that promote "Safetyism" breed bad actors who just manipulate the rules to gang-report people they don't like in order to get them banned.
They're not victims. They're bullies. They're just bullies using a cowardly method of bullying.
Let me suggest that an important part of empathy is knowing what it feels like to have your own attacks turned against you -- and when these crybullies are endlessly coddled and protected and "affirmed," and have their every bad-faith attack and gang-reporting effort rewarded, they never learn empathy. Or they un-learn it, if they previously knew empathy.
That's how Gina Carano got fired from Disney. It wasn't really about that tweet about the Nazis dehumanizing their opponents.
What it was about was Trans Extremists bullying her to post her pronouns. She refused.
The began attacking her and insulting her as they attack any actual biological woman who refuses the demands of Fake Women. She still refused.
One day she made a silly joke about her pronouns being "beep/boop/bop." This enraged them.
They daily ran smear campaigns and cancel campaigns against her and kept a steady drumbeat for Disney to either fire her or force her to put her pronouns in her Twitter bio.
Disney, as we've learned, is filled with Trans Extremists, and these extremists encouraged this behavior.
One day, Gina Carano posted that completely-innocuous observations that the Nazis were able to succeed to by slowly dehumanizing their targets, and Disney claimed this was somehow slurring the religion of others (what?).
It was the perfect excuse to fire her -- with the added bonus, that the Trans Extremists who were actually responsible for all of this got to hide their hand in it.
Proof that this was all the doing of the Trans Extremists was the terms offered to Gina Carano for her continued employment: Disney would keep her on, they said, if she attended a struggle session with some very large number of trans employees at Disney, where they'd tell her how awful she was and how they'd hurt her by refusing to post pronouns.
So all the bullshit about the tweet in question was just a cover story. The struggle session was not to be about the use and misuse of the lessons of WWII in modern discourse, but about trans grievance culture.
So yeah, this kind of protected class "Safetyism" with special rules encourages vindictive manipulation of the rules.
Most of the shrieking from the left about Twitter is born of a simple fear:
Oh my stars, they're all thinking, the right is going to start doing to us what we've been permitted to do to them for eight years.
Well, we probably won't actually be allowed to do that, but you're right to fear that.
You should fear that. Cowards should always know fear.
