The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“Let us all have a moment of silence for those no longer busy Belle Isle beavers. There must be a more humane way to treat our mammalian cousins.” Chris Martin

Quote II

“Other than Sedona, I don’t know what else they would want to buy,” AZ State Sen.Tyler Pace, R-Mesa

Quote III

“I think there’s people who don’t value truth, they don’t value honesty, I think they just want to win. The Biden thing — I think he just always wanted people to think highly of himself.” Joe Rogan

Quote IV

“I believe in the armed struggle as the only solution for the people who fight to free themselves and I am consistent with my beliefs. Many will call me an adventurer, and I am, but of a different type, of those who put their lives on the line to demonstrate their truths.” -CHE GUEVARA, LETTER TO PARENTS

I admit I'm not perfect. And I really do attempt to put myself in the other person's shoes. However, in this instance I just can't. For years I've heard about women being man's equal. I've heard about the Equal Rights Amendment. I've heard about women being as tough as men. I heard, "I am woman, hear me roar."

Well Maggie Hoffman from Epicurious.com is not my equal nor is she tough. And instead of a roar, I hear whimpering. Plus her use of rechargeable electric socks contributes to "Climate Change".

Eating Outside? Consider Heated Clothes

Yes, electric socks do exist.

When I moved to New York, I figured I’d probably need a wardrobe update. It had been so long since I’d worked in an office, the kind of place where people wear shoes and maybe even hard pants. But the clothes I’ve actually needed these last two years weren’t at all what I anticipated, and I’m not just talking about my cozy work-from-home gear. I’ve gone electric.

There’s a certain logic to how I ended up here. I live in a breezy, poorly insulated old house, and it’s wasteful to keep pumping the heat through the whole space (and out the leaky window frames). I’ve learned to layer sweaters, to wear warm slippers—heating myself instead of the room. Eating outdoors in the chilliest months is simply the most extreme example of the same logic; it’s tricky to really warm a space where the goal, for COVID-safety, is to keep outside air circulating. I’ve dreamed of restaurants with under-foot heaters, but for the most part, my favorite spots for eating with friends this winter have done the best they can with not particularly strong overhead lamps. And grilling in my backyard is a really chilly endeavor.

This is how I found myself googling “heated socks” online. I’d heard that my father-in-law occasionally wore heated gloves while shoveling snow and wondered if a similar situation could make an evening eating outdoors feel a little less like my toes were going to freeze completely and roll down the block on their own. Dessert is much more delightful if you still have the ability to move your feet properly.

I wound up buying a full panoply of wearables to get through the remaining cold evenings of this pandemic era. And I’m so glad I did.

We really are doomed, aren't we?

Weak skeletons. No word about the need for handwarmers and the like..

According to a U.S. Army major, America’s youth are living a sedentary life that makes them fragile, prone to injury, and harder to successfully and easily transition from civilian life to the military. The news comes from an official press release posted on the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service, a hub of official pictures, videos, and news published by the Pentagon

But we have GI Josie who has 2 moms. So we have that going for us.

Speaking of doomed. When do we see the riddance of Sean "You're a Dim Witted American" Hannity?

What Happened To Hannity?
The popular Fox News host has some explaining to do to his audience.

Allow me to introduce a painful subject that’s difficult to discuss in conservative circles but long overdue: what has happened to Sean Hannity?

Now I’m not talking about the fact that Hannity seems to have done the exact same TV show for the last two years on autopilot. This seems so obvious that it’s hardly a controversial opinion. Even his ardent admirers can admit that most nights sound like they were pre-taped in 2019. What’s changed really? The scripts are exactly the same but the eyes look sad.

Let’s call this the “vape pen” phase of the Hannity show.

We can only hope that Hillary Clinton and her ilk will be doomed and/or jailed.

Quick and Dirty Durham Explainer

You can learn a lot by just listening — unless you’re listening to the legacy media. A recent example is the motion Special Counsel John Durham filed in the case of Michael Sussman on Feb. 11.

Sussman was indicted for lying to FBI General Counsel James Baker when he presented “evidence” suggesting an illicit connection between Trump and the Russian Alfa Bank and said he had no client; we’ll get to the details, but the gist is that Sussman was billing the Clinton campaign and Rodney Joffe when he said he had no client. At the time, Sussman was employed by Perkins Coie, a high-powered Washington law firm.

(The actual motion names “Law Firm 1,” “Tech Executive 1,” and others. All of these people have been openly identified, so I’m just going to translate the names.)

Now, fair notice: I’m heading pretty deep into the weeds here, so here’s the TL;DR:

They didn't need to do this to a dying individual. They could have studied Joe Biden.

What happens when we die?

Scientists may finally be in a position to answer that question after they recorded the brain waves of a patient as her life ended.

Crucially, they didn’t set out to capture this data – instead it ocurred by happenstance.

Researchers in the United States were running an electroencephalogram (EEG) on an 87-year-old man who suffered from epilepsy.

Jeez Mis. Hum. are you ever going to be serious?

Good luck young Mr. Rittenhouse. LeBron James is a crybaby thug. I hope you can make him a little less affluent.

On Tuesday, Kyle Rittenhouse announced that he is making plans to sue LeBron James for the NBA star’s social media attacks.

In November, James mocked Rittenhouse for crying on the stand during testimony as he faced charges of murder in Wisconsin. Rittenhouse was acquitted of murder and the court ruled he acted in self-defense when he was attacked by three people during the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August of 2020.

Stupid Passive Aggressive...

"At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child -- miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of spoiled brats" -- P.J. O'Rourke, "Give War a Chance"

Please allow me to take this opportunity to invoke a rhetorical moment of silence for the late Mr. O'Rourke, who in so many ways, brought a lot of joy into my own personal world. I was a fan from the very second I first read National Lampoon in my late teens and have steadily collected his works ever since. A brilliant man, with a terrific sense of humor which he fused with scathing political and social commentary, has been lost to us.

The world seems a lesser place today without him.

Requiesat In Pacem.

In the good news department: I got an actual plastic straw at Wendy's this afternoon.

But I'm not here brag about my good fortune in the fast food utensil department. I'm here to talk about something I've written about previously, but have had to revisit given a recent experience.

Some time ago I regaled you with the story of my first experience as a hiring manager. To summarize: having no experience with conducting interviews and hiring employees before, I sought out advice from a higher-level manager whom I respected. The best piece of advice he gave me went something like this:

People, in general, can be summed up in two broad comparative categories. They are either Smart or Stupid, and Passive or Aggressive. The trick to any good hire was to identify the Aggressive-Smart and avoid the Aggressive-Stupid. This dictum served me well for many years until society began mass-producing Aggressive-Stupid on an industrial scale. They are pushed out of the modern universities in a continuous stream, extruded like Kraft Easy Cheese slithering out of the can.

Once again an armed citizen is Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

“So, as he comes up he’s close and he’s pretty aggressive trying to get the car door open makes eye contact with me he’s still trying to get it open a couple times,” Taylor said.

Taylor said she picked up her gun

“It’s locked and loaded,” she recalled saying.

The bad guy decided he didn’t want to meet his maker that day and retreated.

Taylor, the would-be victim, survived the encounter alive and physically unhurt. She didn’t lose anything except her peace of mind.
