Hopefully its ratings disaster will hurt NBC in the old pocketbook.

The New York Times called the Olympic Games "a joyless spectacle," while other media adjectives include "the low bar of avoiding total disaster."

According to the Associated Press, through Tuesday, an average of 12.2 million watched the Olympics in primetime on NBC, cable, or its Peacock streaming service, a 42-percent dip from the 2018 Winter Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.

"Only 10 million watched NBC alone, a 47-percent drop from 2018, and through early last week, it was down 57 percent in the critical 25-54 age demographic from the Seoul games," Fox News reported, noting the Super Bowl viewership boost NBC got from airing the Olympics right after the network aired the game.

I don't know about you. But, I never saw this coming. Nah, just kidding.

Seattle PD having trouble hiring new officers

Politicians often can’t really afford to be far-sighted. Their constituents want immediate results, not the promise of better days down the road.

Yet officials can be far too short-sighted for their own good. Seattle, for example, was another of a handful of cities that cut funding to their police department not all that long ago.

***SNORT***

The cargo ship Felicity Ace is aflame from bow to stern with a lithium-ion battery fire that can’t be put out with water alone.

The fire has been burning since Wednesday (Feb. 16), as the ship drifts in the Atlantic about 200 miles southwest of Portugal’s Azores Islands. Its 22-person crew abandoned ship and was rescued on Thursday.

The ship left Germany on Feb. 10 and headed for the US with about 4,000 Porsches, Bentleys and other luxury cars aboard, and some of those were electric vehicles. It’s not clear if the batteries contributed to the fire starting in the first place—a greasy rag in a lubricant-slicked engine room or a fuel leak are the usual suspects in ship fires—but the batteries are keeping the flames going now. A forensic investigation will take months to determine the cause.

Kamala Harris, the San Francisco Headhunter, is a pleasant individual. Really.

Democrat President Joe Biden’s U.S. Ambassador to Germany, Amy Gutmann, has returned to the United States just days after first reporting for duty during the Munich Security Conference, taking a commercial flight back to the States after Vice President Kamala Harris refused to let her fly home on Air Force Two.

Gutmann, who presented her credentials just days ago — Thursday of last week — to begin work as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany, attended meetings at the Munich Security Conference with world leaders and fellow top U.S. officials, including Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Supposedly the Canadians are nice. Their cops, not so much.

And if you think the cops aren't nice. Meet the Reichsstatthalter of Ottawa, Jim Watson.

Ottawa Mayor Proposes To Sell Confiscated 'Freedom Convoy" Trucks

Ottawa police put an end to the "Freedom Convoy" protest in the downtown district that lasted for three weeks. On Friday and Saturday, officers arrested demonstrators and seized their vehicles. Now Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson wants to sell those seized trucks and campers to recoup millions of dollars the city lost during the three weeks of gridlock.

On Sunday, Watson told Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) that trucks, campers, and other vehicles seized from the convoy should be sold off, claiming Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's emergency powers could give him authority to do so.

Let's face it. Corn Pop isn't as tough as Vlad is.

Wow. Putin chooses to invade Ukraine on the anniversary of one of Joe Biden’s tweets about him!

As we’ve reported already, Vladimir Putin has chosen to invade Ukraine today.

Well it turns out to be on the very day that Biden sent this tweet about Putin two years ago:

It's for the children. The mentally ill are free to roam about the bedrooms.

Parents of fifth graders discover camp allowed male counselors who identified with female pronouns to sleep in all girl cabins

LOS ALAMITOS, CA- According to reports, a group of parents of students at Weaver Elementary School are upset with the Los Alamitos Unified School District after learning about the sleeping arrangements at a school-organized science camp in San Bernardino County.

Rapper Kasper Knight, a.k.a Kasper Tha Phantom, is apparently very serious about achieving fame.

The Indiana man put a gun to his cheek and pulled the trigger in a Facebook Live video, claiming he was doing it in order to include it in an upcoming music video.

When Mom is pissed, no one is happy. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

The suspect sought in a Chicago train robbery has been identified as a Loyola University student recognized by his own mother, who reportedly dragged him into the police station to turn himself in.

Zion Brown, an 18-year-old sophomore at Loyola University Chicago, has been charged with armed robbery after allegedly stealing about $100 in cash at gunpoint from a Metra train conductor Tuesday afternoon, WBBM-TV reported. After recognizing photos of a masked suspect – seen glancing into a station security camera – shared by police and reported by the media as her son, Brown’s mother brought him into a police station in Calumet City for him to turn himself in, CWB Chicago reported.
