The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

"It's critically important to make sure that transgender and nonbinary youth not only feel supported but valued and affirmed for who they are," Democratic congresswoman Angie Craig (Minn.)

Quote II

This is about an uprising of everyday citizens in democracies around the world. It’s not just Canada, it’s not the United States, it’s western Europe, too, rising against the biggest threat to actual democracy, which I think is the rise of this managerial class in democracies around the world that are crushing the will of everyday people through bureaucracies.” Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy

Quote III

"The outcome of this incident has placed an even larger divide in my [child’s] lack of trust in law enforcement. This is exactly the wrong relationship and is a dangerous precursor for [their] future." Cathy Austin of Burlington, VT

Probably a Cloggenstein originally from Brattleboro.

Quote IV

“The department issued these officers old and deteriorated beanbag rounds,” So rather than coming out as a soft beanbag they came out as a hardened projectile…so you had rioters who were seriously injured by these beanbags and it shouldn’t have happened but it’s not the officers fault it’s management’s fault.”

“It’s probably a very righteous personal injury case. But it doesn’t make the officers’ actions illegal or a criminal offense.” Attorney Doug O’Connell

We've heard about the immigration of Californians to Texas. Meet James who did it the other way around.

A man said he moved from Texas to become homeless in San Francisco because the California city’s government is paying him $620 per month and hundreds more in food stamps while he sells Narcan and subscribes to Amazon Prime and Netflix on his cell phone.

The homeless man, James, claims it took him just one phone call to get government assistance including hundreds of dollars in cash and about $100 in food stamps, according to the Daily Mail. ‘Free money’ is motivation to stay homeless, said the man living on the streets of San Francisco since June.

‘This right now is literally by choice, literally by choice, If we’re going to be realistic, they pay you to be homeless here,’ James told Michael Shellenberger, the author of San Fransicko. The book argues that the city’s progressive leaders have made homelessness, crime and inequity worse.

‘F**king phone call bro… Two hundred food stamps and $620 cash a month. Forget about it. Why wouldn’t I do it? You know, it’s f**king free money dude,’ James said.

The joys of a government provided living wage.

11) The poor you will always have with you,[a] but you will not always have me. Matthew 26:11. Poor on earth? Sure. But, not on the moon!!!

Privatise the moon to help wipe out poverty on Earth say economists
The Adam Smith Institute believes the moon should be divided into parcels of land each of which is assigned to a different country, then nations would then be able to rent out plots

The Adam Smith Institute believes the satellite 239,000 miles away should be divided into parcels of land each of which is assigned to a different country.

Nations would then be able to rent out smaller plots to tycoons and businesses.

Cash from outer space property rights would boost the global economy and help reduce world poverty, according to the financial thinktank.

Experts reckon the move would also help clean up space which is littered with 3,000 dead satellites, 34,000 pieces of junk bigger than 10cm and millions of smaller bits.

Because no-one owns space nobody bothers to clean it up.

Governments cause poverty and addiction.

When is not enough?

There are no easy solutions for class action lawyers whose settlements have been delayed by objectors’ appeals. Just ask the plaintiffs' lawyers who obtained $113.5 million in settlements for lithium ion battery purchasers.

Last December, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in Oakland, California, approved a final round of agreements with defendants in the antitrust class action, awarding about $40.5 million in fees and expenses to class counsel from Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein; Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro; and Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy. Rogers also granted $220,000 in fees to the Hamilton Lincoln Law Institute, which had persuaded the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2019 that the settlement allocation formula must take into account differences in state laws governing recovery for consumers with antitrust claims. (The case alleges a price-fixing cartel that overcharged for batteries used in cell phones, camcorders, cordless power tools and other products.)

The Hamilton Lincoln Law Institute, headed by Ted Frank, has appealed the fee award to class counsel. Lieff, Cotchett and Hagens Berman, in turn, have appealed the award to Frank’s group. It’s fair to say that there is no love lost between these factions.

Oh that little old man who bought a lithium battery for his cordless tool. Well he can go piss up a rope.

Speaking of lithium batteries..........

Rare form of sulfur offers a key to triple-capacity EV batteries

As electric vehicles continue to grow in popularity, scientists see great potential in lithium-sulfur batteries as a more environmentally friendly way to power them. This is because they don't rely on the same expensive and difficult-to-source raw materials, such as cobalt, but other problems relating to their stability has held the technology back so far. Engineers at Drexel University have made a breakthrough they say takes these batteries closer to commercial use, by leveraging a rare chemical phase of sulfur to prevent damaging chemical reactions.

What else is Pfzier not telling us?

FDA Acting Director Janet Woodcock and an underling stated: “The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been notified by Pfizer that new data have recently emerged regarding its emergency use authorization request for the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine in children 6 months through 4 years of age. As part of its rolling submission, the company recently notified the agency of additional findings from its ongoing clinical trial. Based on the agency’s preliminary assessment, and to allow more time to evaluate additional data, we believe additional information regarding the ongoing evaluation of a third dose should be considered as part of our decision-making for potential authorization. Therefore, the FDA is postponing the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee meeting originally scheduled for Feb. 15.”

Shooting up a 6 month old infant with an unproven rushed vaccine is child abuse.

Sometimes you forget to do the little things. Is he a Genius Award Winner?

Alaska State Troopers say that the pilot of an aircraft which was located after a crash near hostaer Pass on Feb. 6 has been located safely, but not before thousands of dollars were expended in search efforts for the man.

Troopers wrote in an online dispatch that members of the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Alaska Air National Guard, and volunteer Civil Air Patrol began searching for a downed aircraft after an Emergency Locator Transmitter was activated east of the Parks Highway near the communities of Willow and Talkeetna on Feb. 6.

Following the signal, no distress calls or reports of downed aircraft came in, but the Civil Air Patrol began looking for downed aircraft with eight volunteer members over multiple days, who searched for five hours in the air and 13 hours on the ground when severe weather hampered aerial searches.

He might not be a Super Bowl victor today. But he is Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

11-year-old Audrey Soape lost her father and grandfather last year and was feeling sad about the upcoming daddy-daughter dance at her church in Round Rock, Texas.

Audrey's mom, Holly, wanted to do something special for her daughter, so she reached out to their favorite NFL player, Anthony Harris, to ask if he would take Audrey to the dance.

Much to her surprise, he said yes.
