Once You Eliminate The Impossible, Whatever Remains, However Improbable, Must Be The ONT

Howdy folks! Welcome to Thursday night. Say, did any of y'all ever wonder what it would be like if we all met in grade school?

On The Road

Kids Today Don't Want to Drive, and I'll Never Understand It

I, coming of age in the 80s, was just like the author of the linked piece. I got my learners permit at the earliest possible moment - 3 months to the day before I turned 16. And it was glorious. My 2 boys are on both sides. Big, now 28, didn't care about driving until he was in his 20s - but once he did his reaction was "I can't believe I didn't know what I was missing" Little, 17, was wild to drive, although a move and 'rona meant he didn't get to until 17, not 16. That is mostly because when we moved to Texas the DMV was on ridiculous “by appointment only” office hours, and the first appointment we could get was six months out. With a required six month provisional license, Little didn't get on the road until he was 17.

This Is Bizarre

TikTok-famous 'Island Boys' promote Army recruitment in Cameo

Now, to be clear, this wasn't an Army video, it was an individual recruiter who did this, but what kind of recruits did he think he was going to get from these guys?

Tonight's Debate

The Best Band From Every State

Well, from Texas they chose Destiny's Child instead of ZZ Top, which is stupid. From Maryland they chose some band called Beach House, that I've never even heard of. Sorry, but if you're not going to chose Frank Zappa (or Cab Calloway, though that's not rock era) for Maryland, it's got to be Mary Prankster. So did they get it right for your state?

History Minute

Fitz John Porter

General Porter was scapegoated by General Pope for the Union loss at Second Bull Run/Manassas, and spent the rest of his life trying to clear his name.

Sixteen years after he had been dismissed, a board headed by General John M. Schofield exonerated Porter for all of his actions at the Battle of Second Manassas, and stated that Porter's actions most likely saved the army.  It would take until 1886 for then President Grover Cleveland to sign a bill that placed Porter's name back on the army roll.

I find that quote interesting because a US board would have referred to the battle as Second Bull Run. Regardless, Pope was an ass.

Fake News

Not One Corpse Has Been Found In The ‘Mass Grave’ Of Indigenous Children In Canada

Remember last summer when a mass grave containing the remains of hundreds of children was found on the grounds of a former government boarding school for indigenous children in British Columbia, Canada?

In the seven months since this shocking news broke, not one body has been found, and not a single shovel-full of dirt has been excavated from the site in question. Contrary to the worldwide media coverage last summer, nothing, in fact, has been “discovered” on the grounds of the Kamloops Indian Residential School.

In a healthy society, this would be a scandal. A story that grabbed headlines for a week and inspired arson attacks that destroyed dozens of churches in Canada turns out to be based on flimsy, unexamined evidence at best, and an outright, pernicious lie at worst.

It really is a never ending attack on the foundations of western civilization by idiots who will themselves be consumed by the evil they unleash if they succeed.

Related: Christians, Stop Selling Other Christians Out To Get Pagan Elites’ Approval

I saw a TikTok a few weeks back of some female, liberal priest, I dunno what denomination, but since she was dressed like a Catholic priest I'm guessing Episcopalian, dancing around in the nave of her church with floating text that said things like “Jesus would have used your pronouns”. No ma'am, he would not have. I certainly can in no way, shape or form speak for Jesus, but I think it's pretty clear from his teachings that he would have chastised the person, perhaps something along the lines of “Who art thou to blaspheme against the will of the Lord thy God who made you in his perfect image?”

Wokeism Is a Cruel and Dangerous Cult

Wokeism’s natural logic is to destroy the lives of people of both genders, of all races, and—if need be—those of every age, all to leverage an otherwise unworkable ideological agenda. It is nihilist and destroys everything it touches. It tears apart foes and friends alike, whether by fueling media-driven hatred of Donald Trump or faux-deification of the disaster that is now Joe Biden.

Does a Seattle-area coach have a prayer in his Supreme Court case?

Selena Zito with the story of a high school football coach who was fired for praying with his team before and after games. The case has now gone to the SCOTUS. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out. I can say this, however. Down here there is a general prayer over the PA before Little's games, and coach leads a prayer with all the boys on the field afterwards. Yes, it is a league of parochial schools, but it's nice. Everyone standing with bowed heads for the prayer and then at attention or with hands on hearts for the anthem.....it's nice. Damn nice.

This One Is All Over The Place

Sirhan Sirhan’s Continued Imprisonment Flies in the Face of RFK’s Ideals

A Libby writer criticizing Newsome for not pardoning the guy who killed Robert Kennedy. On one hand it's cruel, he's an infirm old man. On the other the assassination led to Nixon, Reagan and ultimately Trump. On the third hand, no it didn't, on the forth there's no way to say. On the fifth hand....I think this was written by an octopus.
