Quick Hits

Charles Schumer continues impotently promising to schedule votes on repealing the filibuster, or making "limited carve-outs" to it, such as suspending it on... any vote the Democrats deem sufficiently important. Such as rigging the 2022 elections.

In fact, Senate Democrat sources have already squealed that a major point of tomorrow's Insurrection Pageant is to "supercharge" the emotional leverage they have on Sinema and Manchin, to force them to agree to end the filibuster for their "voting rights" bill.

But Mancin and Sinema both say "no."

Voting rights: Schumer says the Senate will vote on a package of Senate rules changes by Jan. 17 -- less than two weeks away.

While Manchin said he's still talking with his colleagues, he isn't on board with a filibuster carve-out for voting rights -- calling it "a heavy lift" -- and isn't willing to go nuclear and eliminate the filibuster altogether.

"Once you change a rule, or you have a carve-out ... you eat the whole turkey," the senator told a COVID-thinned group of pool reporters on Tuesday.

He added that he would want any reform of Senate rules to have GOP buy-in -- a long-shot to near impossible ask.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), also a key holdout to major filibuster reform, reiterated during the Democratic lunch she will not support any effort to get rid of the 60-vote threshold, according to two sources familiar with the call.

Sinema has been having one-on-one talks with her colleagues for weeks, one of the sources said.

Meanwhile, Fang Fang's sex partner is all-in on the push for rigging the election, warning that if they don't rig the election, they may never have the chance to rig an election again:

MSNBC @MSNBC

"I'm worried that if Republicans win in the midterm elections that voting in this country as we know it will be gone," Rep. Swalwell says. "This is not only the most important election, but if we don't get it right, it could be the last election."

PS you know Fang Fang pegged him, right? I mean, we're all on the same page re: the Pegging Question right?

Julie Kelly's book was just released, just before the New Year.

What isn't being reported about January 6th, from Deb Heine:

Multiple Trump supporters appear to have died as a direct result of police brutality on January 6. Ashli Babbitt (35) was shot to death by Michael Byrd, a lieutenant with Capitol police, at near point-blank range just outside the Speaker’s Lobby at 2:43 p.m. on January 6.

Although her autopsy report indicated that Rosanne Boyland (34) died of a drug overdose, evidence suggests she was a victim of law enforcement’s brutal assault on Trump supporters trapped inside the lower west terrace tunnel at the Capitol building. Kevin Greeson (55) died of a heart attack after being repeatedly flash bombed and sprayed with chemical agents. A fourth Trump supporter, Benjamin Phillips (50) also died of a heart attack.

According to American Greatness reporter Julie Kelly, the Trump supporters didn't start fighting back until the they were attacked.

Police began attacking crowds of protesters peacefully assembled outside the Capitol building around 1:15 p.m. on January 6, shortly after President Trump finished his speech at the Ellipse. Capitol Police deployed tear gas and pepper balls into the crowd while D.C. Metro police threw flashbangs and sting balls filled with rubber bullets, which prompted many of the initial confrontations between police and protesters.

While the left prosecutes "the insurrectionists," they're finding a lot of cases to not prosecute.

Like, for example, real crimes. The just-sworn-in Manhattan DA instructed his deputy DAs to not seek prison time -- "carceral" sentences -- for even the most major of major crimes unless forced to by a specific directive of law.

Manhattan's new DA has ordered his prosecutors to stop seeking prison sentences for hordes of criminals and to downgrade felony charges in cases including armed robberies and drug dealing, according to a set of progressive policies made public Tuesday.

In his first memo to staff on Monday, Alvin Bragg said his office "will not seek a carceral sentence" except with homicides and a handful of other cases, including domestic violence felonies, some sex crimes and public corruption.

...

Assistant district attorneys must also now keep in mind the "impacts of incarceration," including whether it really does increase public safety, potential future barriers to convicts involving housing and employment, the financial cost of prison and the racial disparities over who gets time, Bragg instructed.

...

"The Office shall not seek a sentence of life without parole," the memo states.

Under state law, that punishment is reserved for the most heinous of murderers, including terrorists, serial killers, cop killers and fiends who kill children younger than 14 during in connection with sex crimes or torture.

So he's eliminated the stiffest punishment for the worst crimes, by personal fiat.

No matter how awful your crime, no matter how many children your r@pe and kill, you can only get 20 years or fewer in prison.

Bragg's memo also detailed the following instructions for prosecutors to reduce charges filed by cops in various cases:

Armed robbers who use guns or other deadly weapons to stick up stores and other businesses will be prosecuted only for petty larceny, a misdemeanor, provided no victims were seriously injured and there's no "genuine risk of physical harm" to anyone. Armed robbery, a class B felony, would typically be punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison, while petty larceny subjects offenders to up to 364 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Convicted criminals caught with weapons other than guns will have those felony charges downgraded to misdemeanors unless they’re also charged with more serious offenses. Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, is punishable by up to 7 years behind bars.

But the left is super-serious about stopping gun crimes you guys.

Don't count on any help from new Mayor Eric Adams, who ran on a law-and-order campaign:

But Adams, a former NYPD captain who was elected on a law-and-order platform, added: "I have a lot of respect for DA Bragg, a former prosecutor. He has a real vision."

Adams also said he planned to meet soon with state and federal lawmakers "to get in the room and operate off the same playbook."

"We can have the justice we deserve with the public safety we need," he said.

Eric Adams also left De Blasio's covid mandates on the book.

So: Meet the new boss.

In more Manhattan DA dropping charges news, the Manhattan DA, get this, will not charge Andrew Cuomo for killing thousands of elderly nursing home residents by forcing covid positive patients into the nursing homes.

Just as a pay-off to his private-hospital donors, who did not want the expense or trouble or treating underinsured old covid-positive patients.

So they were forced into the nursing homes, to infect tens of thousands of criticially-vulnerable elderly people. The only group of people really at risk for dying of covid.

No charges.

Announced by this pro-criminal asshole Bragg.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg will not bring charges in connection with ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s handling of nursing homes in early stages of the coronavirus pandemic, a lawyer for the ex-gov says https://t.co/3zaTgz6Q6c

But he will continue exploring charges against The Real Killer, Trump:

New Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is keeping on two senior lawyers who are deeply involved in the investigation of former president Donald Trump https://t.co/ElIZOKYjTJ

-- Bloomberg Politics (@bpolitics) January 3, 2022

The new Manhattan DA is excusing our former corrupt governor of several charges he was facing regarding nursing homes and sexual assault. There are still investigations underway with FBI, DOJ eastern district and AG but there's no doubt they’re making deals with the devil.

Seems like a good time to drop the charges against the guards who were conveniently absent and who faked the guard duty records which allowed Epstein the alone time he needed to (checks note) "commit suicide."

A federal judge on Monday dropped charges against two prison guards who said they falsified records on the night Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide, AP reports.

The big picture: The two guards --Tova Noel and Michael Thomas -- fulfilled an agreement to cooperate with the Justice Department in exchange for avoiding jail time, prosecutors noted in a court document.

I'll bet they cooperated. Both before and after.

A 25th Democrat House member has announced her retirement.

In Florida, an Absolute Legend has gone around to cars with New York license plates telling the "Woke" to go home.

Palm Beach Police say the fliers were placed on cars with New York license plates over the weekend reading, "If you are one of those 'woke' people -- leave Florida. You will be happier elsewhere as will we," The Associated Press reported.

A DC area radio station is being investigated for... broadcasting paid Chinese Communist Party propaganda for years, and taking millions to do so.

And taking a PPP loan in the meantime.

The Small Business Administration’s watchdog has been asked to investigate after a Virginia radio company that was paid millions of dollars to broadcast Chinese Communist Party propaganda received more than $100,000 through the Paycheck Protection Program.

Potomac Radio Group, which registered this month under the Foreign Agents Registration Act for its work for Chinese state-run China Global Television Network, received a loan for $106,228 through the SBA in April 2020, with the loan forgiven by the U.S. government eight months later. A source familiar with the matter told the Washington Examiner that SBA has had fraud experts undertake a post-forgiveness review of the loan and has also referred the controversy to the SBA inspector general to investigate.

Potomac owns WCRW AM 1190, which is heard in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The company admitted it has been paid close to $4.4 million by CGTN and CCP-affiliated China Radio International throughout 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Amazingly, a "journalist" actually asked Jen Psaki why Biden isn't more focused on scolding the unvaccinated.

That's like asking Bill Kristol why he isn't more focused on posting up his fat squad ass right by the doors where the servers come out carrying the fresh hors d'oeuvres.

And speaking of disgustingly fat NeverTrumpers who are also lazy and spend all their time on Twitter and taking money from Democrats:

Jonah Goldberg embarrassed himself, as usual, yesterday, by demanding that non-Governor Glenn Youngkin do something about the snow-snarls on I-95.

When he was told that Youngkin would not be sworn in until January 15-- something he could have googled in two seconds, but he needed that two seconds to count Democrat donor money -- he just made a lame joke and slinked away.

And deleted his tweet.

What he did not do, however, was then criticize the actual, current governor of Virginia for not fixing the I-95 situation that so bothered his fat ass.

Ralph Northam, of course, is a Democrat. When he found out that Northam was still the governor, Soyberg's interest in Virginia traffic hold-ups suddenly just vanished.

Why, it was almost as if Jonah wasn't really bothered by the I-95 snow-snarl as he was delighted by the chance to do a little Client Servicing and score a point against a Republican.

Now Jonah's complaining about people dunking on him over this.

Yeah that's fine. But the dunking is stupid. I like Youngkin. Thought he' been sworn in already, and given that context the tweet was 100% right. People who want to read my tweet as some lib attack on him are either ignorant or deliberately acting in bad faith.

Jonah, try to do a little more work than none at all.

You can't skate on doing no work while being "the funny conservative" when you're neither funny nor conservative.

That's me. I'm the one who skates on doing no work while being the funny conservative.
