The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“I yelled for them to stop but the tree was too far gone,” Sarah Martinez

Quote II

“As of 2017, they had put menstrual products in women’s and gender-neutral bathrooms on campus. In 2020, they decided to put them in all bathrooms on campus, and the rationale behind that was that regardless of how people identify biologically or gender-wise, everybody should get access to these products.” ,” Joseph Mullen, Cornell University

Quote III

"I'm not wearing a mask because you touch it, and you have germs on your hands, and then you put it on your face and then you breathe in all the germs," 7 year old Fiona Lashells

Quote IV

“There’s really no reason we should continue to do this back and forth. The negative health consequences and the negative effect on multivehicular crashes in the spring are just not worth it." Erin Flynn-Evans, a consultant to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s Public Safety Committee

I don't believe that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) mispeakes. Sounds like a good dig against The Paste Eater.

Tasers and hand sanitizer do not mix.

CATSKILL — A 29-year-old Catskill man is in a Syracuse burn unit after he burst into flames when Catskill police officers used a Taser to subdue him after he had doused himself with hand sanitizer, police confirmed on Friday.

Jason Jones, a celebrated athlete at Catskill High School more than a decade ago, is in an intensive care unit at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. His condition is grave, according to people briefed on the matter.

NJ Dem leader refuses to concede to GOP truck driver, says thousands of ballots 'recently found'

Sweeney has been in the state Senate seat since 2002

Democratic New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney says thousands of "recently found" ballots supports his refusal to concede to a Republican challenger who ran a low-budget campaign.

"The results from Tuesday’s election continue to come in, for instance there were 12,000 ballots recently found in one county," Sweeney said in an email to the Philadelphia Inquirer on Thursday. "While I am currently trailing in the race, we want to make sure every vote is counted. Our voters deserve that, and we will wait for the final results."

Let's Go Brandon!

In the motorsports equivalent of shutting the barn door when it was well past doing any good, NASCAR president Steve Phelps said Saturday that NASCAR does not want to be linked to the phrase “Let’s Go Brandon.”

The phrase “Let’s Go Brandon” has become a catchphrase for mocking President Joe Biden and poking fun at liberalism trying to censor reality.

Its roots are linked to NASCAR. When an NBC reporter was interviewing NASCAR driver Brandon Brown, the crowd in the background chanted “f*** Joe Biden.”

US Marine Corps Fire Back at Claims They Lost Training Exercise to the Royal Marines

“Tough, realistic training with foreign partners allows us to sharpen our skills, validate our techniques, and learn new tactics. Iron sharpens iron.”

Following reports that the Royal Marines had claimed victory, Captain Zachary Colvin, the communications and strategy director with the Marine Air Ground Combat Center, released a statement to the Military Times, in which he said there was no winner. “Winners are never determined,” he said. “This exercise does not provide an opportunity to ‘surrender,’ ‘keep score,’ or ‘reset.’ The objective of the exercise is to heighten unit performance and increase readiness.

Say what you want Captain Colvin, The military continues to go Woke.

The US Navy has launched a ship named after a gay rights activist forced to resign from the service because of his sexuality in the 1950s.

The USNS Harvey Milk was launched in San Diego on Saturday in a service attended by Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro and Milk's nephew, Stuart.

It is one of six new ships to be named after famed US civil rights leaders.

Others include former Chief Justice Earl Warren and slain presidential candidate Robert Kennedy.

Milk served as a diving officer and Lieutenant aboard the submarine rescue ship USS Kittiwake during the Korean War. But he was forced out of the service following two weeks of interrogation about his sexuality in 1955.

He later became one of America's first openly gay politicians, elected in 1977 to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Native American Lawsuit Challenges Colorado Ban On Native American “Mascots” As Discriminatory
Allege that sweeping ban is discriminatory: “SB 21-116 sweeps derisive, neutral, and honorific uses of Native American names and imagery together into the universal term “American Indian mascot” …. SB 21-116 unlawfully enacts state-sanctioned race discrimination against Plaintiffs.”

The banning of Native American (American Indian) depictions for sports teams gets a lot of press, most famously the Washington Redskins renaming themselves the Washington Football Team.

There’s a side to this issue that I had not thought of, but is argued in a lawsuit just filed in Colorado. That when the government is involved in such name bans, it is discrimination against American Indians because it deprives them of the abilithy to have things named after them. It is, according to the argument, the worst form of cultural appropriation, more like cultural depravation.

Is this a "Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day" meeting a "Genius Award Winner" story?

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter late Thursday rescued seven people who had been iced in since last week at a cabin about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of the Yukon River community of Emmonak in western Alaska, the Alaska State Troopers reported.

The group was “adequately supplied with food, water, shelter, and necessary supplies” before they were rescued Thursday night, troopers said.
