The Morning Report - 9/6/21

weurgeashlibab.jpg

Good morning, kids. Labor Day and the start of a new week and also erev Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year 5782 which begins at sundown tonight. So, l'shona tovah, a good and joyous new year and I hope you all are inscribed in the Book of Life. From what embarassingly little I do remember from Hebrew school regarding the High Holidays, one of its most important prayers encourages us that penitence, prayer and good deeds on your part will ameliorate G-d's judgement. What the Almighty has in store for the world is another story and from the looks of things, the situation is very much in doubt.

Buried in the links is a story that, given everything else that's going on would, no doubt otherwise be overlooked. A military coup ousted the president of the tiny West African nation of Guinea. Considering the titles of its leaders over the past several decades are akin to "President for Life for This Week" the story is not exactly surprising. But the reaction from the White House is what jumped out at me:

The Biden [junta] issued a statement Sunday declaring "violence" and "extra-constitutional measures" would only erode the country's future prospects.

"These actions could limit the ability of the United States and Guinea's other international partners to support the country as it navigates a path toward national unity and a brighter future for the Guinean people," said State Department spokesman Ned Price.

"We urge all parties to forgo violence and any efforts not supported by the Constitution and stand by the rule of law. We reiterate our encouragement of a process of national dialogue to address concerns sustainably and transparently to enable a peaceful and democratic way forward for Guinea to realize its full potential," he added.

I LOL'd for a second or two until I felt the bile and stomach acid move up my gullet and my blood pressure spike.

"Violence" and "extra-constitutional measures" would only erode the country's future prospects.

"We urge all parties to forgo violence and any efforts not supported by the Constitution and stand by the rule of law. We reiterate our encouragement of a process of national dialogue to address concerns sustainably and transparently to enable a peaceful and democratic way forward for Guinea to realize its full potential."

This from an illegitimate junta that used our law enforcement and intelligence agencies to try and sabotage the 2016 election, trump up three separate phony impeachment cases, commit acts of insubordination and mutiny in not faithfully executing a duly elected commander-in-chief's orders, shred the Constitution in the name of a dubious public health crisis that resulted in the rigging and theft of the 2020 election, stage a Reichstag Fire incident on January 6th resulting in the imprisonment of innocent civilians and purging of the military of any potential resistance, and now the attempt to force citizens under threat of de facto internal exile if they refuse to take a vaccine that is at best unnecessary and at worst potentially poisonous. And that's just for starters.

After all that, how do these people have the unmitigated chutzpocritical temerity to tout "national dialogue" when mission number one for them is to wipe out any and all voices of opposition, increasingly "by any means necessary?" Guinea for sure is a basket case. And sadly, we are well on our way to becoming Guineas. What with lockdowns, masking and now forcible vaccinations, it's more like guinea pigs.

Speaking of which, here's another little story that caught my eye this morning that for sure would be lost in the sauce, yet does have cromulence to the Afghan disaster:

Video captures the moment a firebug set aflame a ticket booth at an Italian American festival in Brooklyn last month -- and nearly torched himself in the process.

Adnan Ali Hussein, 28, can be seen at the ticket booth for the 18th annual Feast of Santa Rosalia in Bensonhurst on Aug. 24, according to the FDNY, which released footage of the incident Sunday.

Hussein first applies an "ignitable liquid" to the booth and then pulls an object out of his pocket and lights the booth on fire, officials said. Investigators believe he used a lighter, officials said.

The suspect can be seen on the video then jumping back in surprise when the flames nearly overtake him.

Hussein was arrested Sept. 2 and was charged with arson in the third degree, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief, officials said.

"Arson is not only a serious crime but also an extremely reckless act that can have devastating effects on the entire community," Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said in a statement. "Our Fire Marshals quickly apprehended this individual before he caused any further damage or harm to New Yorkers."

Does anything in that article jump out at you? The festival is the Feast of Santa Rosalia in the heavily Italian and Catholic Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. The man is identified as one Adnan Ali Hussein, who I'm guessing is neither Italian nor Catholic. Of course if I dare put 2 and 2 together and I do not get the Common Corpse Ibram X. Krement answer of 5 by pointing out that Mr. Hussein is probably not Catholic, Protestant, Mennonite, Bhuddist, Animist, Shinto or Jewish but that other religion that is not to be mentioned except as one of "peace", then I will be labeled a hate-monger. Good thing that the NYPD, NYFD and the NY Post didn't do that either, heaven forfend.

Maybe Mr. Hussein was angry because his bracciole was cold. Or because global warming melted his Italian ices. Or because of the Texas abortion law. Then again, he's probably a white supremacist MAGA insurrectionist. Somebody get Mark Potok from SPLC on the blower to clarify this for us. All seriousness aside, while planeloads of American citizens are being prevented from leaving Afghanistan by people who have no relation whatsoever to this Mr. Hussein, the Biden junta is hell bent on bringing thousands of Afghanis here instead -- unvaccinated, unvetted and soon to be unleashed in a Bensonhurst near you.
