Surprise! Law Firm Paid by the Lincoln Project Determines That The Clients Paying Them Just Didn't Know That Founder John Weaver Was Soliciting Sex From Underage Boys

This is absurd, the notion that a law firm you pay -- and for a specific finding! -- can then "independently" investigate you.

Strangely, they always seem to come to the conclusion the clients paying them wish them to come to.

Just as the "investigators" paid by CBS came to the conclusion that there was no proof the Dan Rather "Vietnam Memo" was fake. (All they concluded was that the obviously-fake hoax-document should have been vetted more before being put on air.)

They claimed this even though their own typography expert stated flat-out in an appendix (paragraph 334!) that the font in the Rather Memo simply did not exist until around 2001.

So here we go again: people paid off by the Lincoln Project give them a clean bill of Pedophile-Enabling Health.

By the way, this is a John Sexton story. I guess AllahPundit didn't feel comfortable talking about his Palz at the Lincoln Project.

He quotes Mediaite:

Mediaite has obtained a memo written by Lincoln Project adviser Tara Setmayer and executive director Fred Wellman, two of the three members of a "Transition Advisory Board" appointed to coordinate with the investigation. The memo, set to go out to donors on Tuesday afternoon, summarized the findings of the investigation conducted by the law firm of Paul Hastings, LLP.

According to the memo, the investigation "found no evidence that anyone at The Lincoln Project was aware of any inappropriate communications with any underage individuals at any time prior to the publication of those news reports."

Sexton notes that that is contradicted by previous reporting:

So, the 19th reports senior leaders knew Weaver was harassing "young men" and the law firm memo says no one knew he was harassing "underage individuals." John Weaver was 61-years-old last year. Many of the men he was communicating with were in their early 20s and one was a teenager. In all, Weaver has been accused of harassment by at least 21 men. But it seems the line the Lincoln Project's law firm is drawing here is that no one knew Weaver was harassing anyone under 18 and therefore there was nothing they could do.

The19th had impeccable sources -- the men and boys making these complaints themselves, who told The19th what they had told the executives of the Lincoln Project.

They say that the senior leadership of the National Man-Boy Lincoln Project was made aware of Weaver's trolling for young dick much earlier than the NMBLP's paid shysters claim:

Some of the leaders of the embattled Lincoln Project knew about sexual harassment allegations against co-founder John Weaver as early as March [2-2020], multiple sources, including the group's former executive director, told The 19th late Monday...

Multiple individuals began coming forward late Monday to discuss the allegations related to Weaver, and the timeline on which other senior management knew about them, after the group confirmed that a nondisclosure release applied to its current and former contractors, vendors and employees...

Some of the individuals came forward with new details on Monday after they were released from their nondisclosure agreements. Several said Sarah Lenti, a managing partner with the group who was previously its executive director, knew about the allegations against Weaver as early as May 2020. Lenti confirmed that some of the group's co-founders knew about the allegations as early as March 2020. Schmidt and Galen were among those who knew, multiple sources said.

So the National Man-Boy Lincoln Project's own executive director and managing partner admits that she knew, and confirms that (long time John McCain crony) Steve Schmidt and Reed Galen knew.

And NMBLP's paid mouthpieces say, "No evidence."

Just what they were paid to say.

Lawyers are not hired to convict you. They're hired to defend you.

In case the fact that the National Man-Boy Lincoln Project is paying this firm to " " " investigate " " " isn't enough, you maybe interested to know there are other facts which suggest this law firm isn't quite on the level.

For one thing: Karl Rove has publicly stated he'd heard of John Weaver's trolling for underage d*** as early as 2008.

It is impossible that people in the same, very small specialty business of political consulting did not also hear of John Weaver's predatory predilections. It is impossible that they did not know this when they decided to go into business with him anyway.

Also: previous reports say that this same law firm as donated to the National Man-Boy Lincoln Project in the past.

The probe findings come as many have raised questions about the independence of the investigation, with [The 19th reporter Amanda] Becker noting Tuesday that some lawyers employed at Paul Hastings had made financial contributions to The Lincoln Project in the past.

I give it 24 hours until Steve Schmidt shows up to talk to his old partner in leaking against and sabotaging Sarah Palin -- fellow liberal mercenary turncoat Niccole Wallace -- and Niccole Wallace asks him softball questions and concludes that there are no further questions to ask.

Update: An NYC lawyer involved in just these sorts of cover-up/cover-your-ass fake investigations confirms what we all assumed.

67 I'm a NYC lawyer and have been involved in many "internal investigations" of this type, including a few that did involve personal/sexual misconduct by senior execs. The results are 99% predetermined: "we did a thorough investigation, some mistakes were made, lessons were learned, woulda-coulda-shoulda, but we found no direct evidence that anyone had any direct knowledge of anything directly, and blah blah blah." Everything -- absolutely everything -- is presented in the light most favorable to the company and other execs, with all benefits of every doubt given to them. Every once in a while some poor schmuck down on the totem pole would be the scapegoat. Oh and it's very lucrative work! The company never hesitates to pay large bills for a very thorough and extensive investigation the company knows will find nothing.

That's a good point -- if the law firm found against the client, would the client pay them?

Of course they wouldn't.
