But what does that look like?

Let's assume that Derek Chauvin deliberately killed George Floyd, that if he hadn't had his knee on his neck for 9 minutes, he'd have been OK. So, did Chauvin walk? No, he did not. Here is what happened.

1. He was fired from his job
2. He was arrested
3. He was charged with 3 counts of murder
4. He was put on trial
5. He was found guilty on all counts by a jury.
6. He will be sentenced accordingly.
7. Presumably, there will be a civil suit and Floyd's family will likely be awarded millions of dollars from the city of Minneapolis. (Update: this has already been done. The amount paid was $27 million.)

At this point, I am at loss as to what more can be done. These are the legal remedies on the books for murder and there are no others. So that is the limit. In other words, the goal of justice for George Floyd has already been reached and there's nothing further that can be humanly done for his surviving family.

Here is what we can't do with Derek Chauvin:

1. We can't kill him, bury him, exhume his body at a later date, burn it, and dump the ashes into some river. That's barbarism and we no longer do things like this.
2. We can't string him up by his balls. That's torture and we no longer do things like this.
3. We can't drag him from his jail cell and hang him from a tree. That's lynching and we no longer do things like this.
4. We can't just turn him over to a howling mob. That's vigilantism and we no longer do things like this.
5. We can't keep him alive and subject him to thumbscrews, the rack, and daily beatings. See #2.

You know what we need to do, though? We need to stop pretending that police are shooting unarmed black men everywhere, all over the country, all the time. Progressives believe that there are "thousands" of these shootings every year, but it just isn't true. The real number is orders of magnitude lower. In 2019, it was less than 30, I believe. And yet the lies and the myths persist. It's almost as if someone is deliberately trying to stir up and fear and rage for political purposes.

Nah, that's just crazy talk.

3/24 – Cranford Pundit requests prayers for his long-time coworker and friend Pete, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that spread to his liver. His cancer inoperable, but they are starting aggressive chemo the week of 3/29. While he will not be cured, please pray for the quality of his life, wisdom for him and for his wife, and for their two elementary-school-age children.

3/31 – Roxxee requests prayers for her daughter. She was on our prayer list at Christmastime, as she was in a deep psychosis then, but she did get treatment and was improving. Now she is backsliding again and has quit her job (which will cause her to lose her insurance). She will not listen to her doctors or Roxxee, and as she is an adult, there is nothing they can do. Roxxee requests prayers for her daughter to realize that her life is spinning out of control and she needs help, and for strength and peace for herself as she tries to cope.

4/5 – Captain Whitebread asks for prayers of healing for his sister, who has been diagnosed with diastolic heart failure, and prayers for strength for her and those who depend on her: her Mom (who is retired), her adult son (who is autistic and cannot work), her grand-niece who she is raising.

For Healing:

4/3 – 'My life is insanity' asks for prayers for peace of mind andhealing for her sister, who just learned that her breast cancer from 6 years ago has spread to her spine. She has a small tumor at the base of her neck and a fracture in her lower back. She is waiting on a treatment plan and is unsure at this time what that will bring.

4/12 – Slapweasel requests prayers for Jonathan the Bear, for his upcoming surgery, and for strength and recovery.

4/27 – Grannysaurus Rex requests prayers for healing for Michael as he undergoes experimental treatment to clean his blood in preparation for a liver transplant. His entire body is failing from an infection caused by exposure to mold. The procedure has only a 30% success rate, but it is his only chance. Please pray for wisdom for his medical team and for his family, especially his 4-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, that God’s grace surrounds and comforts them.

Romans 8:26-27:
[26] In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. [27] And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

I ought to know, I can sponge off my son's account and it just isn't there. You know what other Disney movie isn't there, either? Song of the South. Ha! Boy, I'll bet 'woke' Disney would like to bury that one and pretend it never existed.
