Vox Tries To Cancel Dolly Parton, Reveals Its Own Racism & White Privilege Instead

In a week that saw anointed leftists cancel both The Muppets and Doctor Seuss , Vox decided to aim for an even bigger target – Dolly Parton - perhaps the most beloved entertainer in America.

Under the benign headline “How Dolly Parton Became A Secular American saint,” Vox’s culture writer, Constance Grady, wrote a nasty hit piece (safe link to The Federalist.) The tweet below from Vox conveys the actual ugly intent of the story. Vox misfired in this act of random cancellation, because they had no substance to support their awful smear. But they did helpfully remind us that Vox not only epitomizes liberal white privilege, but that Ms. Grady and her fellow white saviors at Vox are disturbingly comfortable using racist words and imagery.

Ms. Grady writes “There’s a dark side to Dolly’s ability to appeal…” Dark side?? In the year 2021??

In the racist world of Vox and Candace Grady, the word “dark” is still used as a derogatory term? Yikes. I thought judging “dark” as being worse than “light” had gone the way of Jim Crow and formal segregation. Apparently not at Vox.

Ms. Grady also observes that “…the idea of whiteness underlies Dolly’s image.” (Sorry – no link. I don’t link to white supremacist webzines such as Vox.)

Speaking of whiteness, this photo of Vox staffers shows a diverse group of writers that covers the spectrum from young white women all the way to young white men.

Writers at this magazine dare to accuse Dolly of being associated with the “idea of whiteness”? Projection much?

Dolly Parton has done so much for so many people, it’s hard to know where to start. Most recently she contributed $1,000,000 to help fund development of the Covid vaccine. Her Imagination Library has distributed over 100 million books to children of all races and socio-economic groups. Just a few weeks ago Dolly asked the Tennessee legislature to withdraw a bill that would erect a statue of her on the state Capitol grounds. With the graciousness and self-deprecating humility that we’ve come to expect from Dolly, she said “Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time.”

Vox maliciously condemns this as the “idea of whiteness.”

Clearly Vox is threatened that Dolly is teaching the joy of reading to children of all races. The white saviors at Vox must fear that getting minority children hooked on reading could someday threaten their white-centric newsroom if those minority kids were to someday take up writing too.

So congratulations, Vox, on self-canceling yourself. There is not a “dark side” to what you just published. Just the opposite. With this failed hit piece on Dolly your racism and white privilege have been illuminated for all to see.
