« The Moderate, Centrist Democrat NeverTrump GOPers Promised Us Now Appoints a BDS Leader as Head of the NSC's Intelligence Section | Main | Pat Leahy Presides Over First Step in Trump's Impeachment, Then Is Rushed to the Hospital »

Joe Biden Announces That He'll Reverse the Mexico City Policy -- Which Immediately Results in 60,000 More Aborted Fetuses Per Year, All Paid for By US Taxpayers -- But NeverTrump Doesn't Want to Even Mention It

Note that while there are some Bad Effects of a Biden presidency which could, in theory, later be reversed -- you could lower taxes after Biden raises them -- there are many you can't ever reverse.

One of those things that can be reversed is the immediate 60,000 extra abortions that the US taxpayers will be funding, thanks to Biden's cancelling of the Mexico City Policy, which forbids -- I mean, forbade -- the US from contributing taxpayer money towards overseas organizations that used that money for abortions.

There is no toggle you can flip to bring someone back to life.

Biden's actions on the Mexico City Policy are irreversible. You can't unring the death bell.

So NeverTrump needs to explain their thinking regarding their claims of a non-harmful Biden presidency. Especially those NeverTrumpers who claim to be Super Christian Moralists opposed to abortion.

Instead, they're pretending the issue away. They're just pretending they didn't see that Biden's about to use taxpayer money for overseas abortions.

The NeverTrump grifters have been running a con on voters for years. They have constantly propagandized that conservatives should not fear a Biden presidency (or residency, if you like), and should even pray for one, because Biden would govern as a "moderate" and "centrist" Democrat.

One part of that propaganda effort was engaging in rank denialism about Biden's up-to-the-moment-of-crowning, absolutist pro-abortion position.

Remember, the True Conservative "The Dispatch" ran a "fact" check declaring that Biden favored late-term abortion to be false, which resulted in the deplatforming of pro-life advertisers.

When it was pointed out that The Dispatch should still be pretending to be conservative, The Dispatch withdrew the "fact" check -- but, notably, refused to run a corrected fact check stating that it was TRUE that Biden was pro-late-term-abortion.

I have news for everyone: Conservative, Inc. is in fact pro-abortion itself. I'll write more about this some day, but for now, know that almost all of their donors are effectively pro-abortion, and Conservative, Inc. is loyal to those paying its salaries.

Conservative, Inc. only mouths very insincere pro-life rhetoric (but never demands actual action on the issue) to attract social conservatives, who would have no other reason to support their socially-liberal/arch-corporate-libertarian policies otherwise.

They're "pro-life" with the "four exceptions:"

1. Rape
2. Incest
3. Life of the mother
4. "My situation"

Obviously, that fourth exception covers a lot of ground.

Conservative, Inc. is made up almost entirely of people from a social class in which it is absolutely demanded that girls go to college and at least make plans about having a career, for a while. But this class also considers unmarried pregnancy an absolute scandal that their daughters must not be made to suffer.

Believe me, they're not really looking to give up their "Unpregnant!" button. It may make them feel good to play around the edges of pro-life rhetoric, but push comes to shove, they are determined to preserve that fourth exception for to take care of any pregnancy which is unwanted due to "My situation."

It's a con. It's a grift. Archlibertarian corporatism does not sell with working class and middle class voters, so they pretend to be pro-life.

They're not. They just need to trick people to voting for them so they can take the power granted to them by those votes and use it to pursue, exclusively, the archlibertarian corporatist agenda.

Which is as leftwing as any NPR host on any social issue.

Ever wonder why it is that while ever Republican runs on reducing abortions and securing the border and cutting corporate taxes, gee willickers, only that last agenda item ever gets achieved?

It's not just a coincidence. It's not just a bad series of throws of the dice.

They do not mean to accomplish the first two agenda items. Those are lies, for purposes of Conning the Rubes.

Note that TheDispatch somehow failed to note Biden's repeal of the Mexico City policy.

Weird, because I thought David French was some kind of super-Christian warrior. Like a 20th level cleric in D&D.

How did he miss this news?

The Dispatch's Fake News Christian-in-Chief David French will happily overlook this completely-unforeseeable action by the moderate, centrist Biden.

In fairness, he has topics more important to discuss than the extra 60,000 abortions per year caused by his own political choices.

Such as: Once again castigating Christians for voting for Trump -- if you can believe that! -- but offering such Christians a "path forward" which will, presumably, put them back right with Jesus Christ.

That path consists, it appears, of apologizing to David French for having criticized or mocked him on Twitter.

No I'm not kidding. That's what Mr. Blessing of Liberty is talking about today.

That Christians have sinned, grievously, in supporting Trump.

But he holds forth an example for other Christians to follow -- the head of Christian college who apologizes to NeverTrump for doubting their wisdom.

An Important Apology Shows the Path Past Christian Trumpism

Leaving behind the days when strength was weakness and courage was cowardice.

It's an "important" apology, because it's made to David French.

See, apologizing to David French shows good character.

David French won't apologize, but he admires the capacity in others.

On January 15, Hunter Baker, the dean of arts and sciences at Union University--a Baptist college not far from me in Jackson, Tennessee--did something exceedingly rare in our highly polarized time. He published an apology. In an essay in Public Discourse, he forthrightly declared that he "severely underestimated the threat posed by a Donald Trump presidency." He acknowledged that Never Trumpers were correct that "there were significant risks involved with Donald Trump that could very well outweigh the policy outcomes."

In a particularly poignant passage, he wrote, "I have awakened on too many days with gratitude on my lips for the blessing of living in a peaceful, orderly, democratic, and free society to see such hard-won advances thrown away for immoderate political ambition. Those who realized our inheritance was at risk saw more clearly than I did."

In our present environment, it takes guts to write an apology. It's countercultural within our broader society, and it's even more countercultural within the MAGA community. As my colleague Jonah Goldberg noted on Friday, even after the calamity of January 6, most MAGA voices are busy doubling down, demanding continued loyalty to Trump and seeking punitive actions against the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach.

Baker was the brave exception, and the correct response to Baker’s words is simple: Thank you. Apology accepted.

But Baker did more than just say he was sorry. He did us the favor of not just explaining why he rejected Never Trump arguments, but also candidly explaining exactly what he once thought of Never Trumpers like me. It's important to hear, and it’s not pretty. In sum, he thought we were weak and fragile. Here’s Baker:

The Never-Trumpers--who never seemed to stop issuing their warnings and critiques--struck me as psychologically and emotionally weak people with porcelain-fragile sensibilities.

More:

My judgment of colleagues and of various conservatives who opposed Trump was privately severe. On the surface, I fully granted the strength of their concerns. But in the confines of my mind, I concluded that they were moral free riders.

Later, he says that he believed we were seeking to "court favor with elites."

I highlight his thoughts not to pick on Baker (who’s a good man [only because he's apologizing to David French -- ace]) but rather to demonstrate the extent to which Christian Trumpism turned morality and reality upside-down. If even someone like Baker can fall for the illusion, then just imagine how widely the deception spread.

He then turns to a long, long recapitulation of the harms he's claimed to have heroically suffered due to his "courage" -- almost entirely consisting of criticism lodged at him on Twitter and in political arguments.

He lays out these travails as if he's listing the evidence for his Christian Martyrdom, and petitioning the Pope for his beatification as a saint.

The sin was voting for Trump; the redemptive act is apologizing to David French for calling him a cuck on Twitter.

Truly, this is a True Christian Prophet we should all heed. He plainly has his priorities in order.

David French

Ye have sinned, MAGA! But you will be Forgiven if you confess your transgressions against David French.

This is sick. Sick fucking stuff.
