The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition
If you want to know what America with super-majorities of Democrats in power will look like, then California is the place to be! Although to be fair, those Democrats are led around by their noses by the real power in California...the woke corporations of Silicon Valley and the equally woke movie industry. Both are filled with rich leftists who never met a SJW cause they didn't like, and seem to be competing for the title of "Most Destructive To Western Philosophy."

The official summary provided by the state explains that Proposition 16 “Permits government decision-making policies to consider race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in order to address diversity by repealing constitutional provision prohibiting such policies…. The effects of the measure depend on the future choices of state and local government entities and are highly uncertain.”
I was poking around the internet and stumbled across a scrap of text from an old document...it must be 100 years old! Interesting how the times have changed. Back then the concept of social equality was not fully formed, yet it was a powerful driver of political philosophy and will.
Even better, the idea that dissolution of political bonds as a response to untenable policy resonates today.
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Perhaps it is time for California to dissolve the political bonds with the rest of the United States. They are clearly uncomfortable with the notion of equality, and seem hellbent on a course of action that will yield a stratified society with elements of India's Caste system and, more ominously, South Africa's post-Apartheid inequality.
That is an unacceptable method of ordering a free society, and California should do the honorable thing, and either form a new country or return to the founding principles.
