Trump Says Despite Partisan Governor Cancelling His Rallies, He's Going to Nevada Anyf#ckingway
LOLGF.
President Donald Trump's campaign says, despite conflicting comments, the President will be holding rallies in Nevada this weekend.
Pres. Trump's campaign had planned a rally in Reno on Saturday and a rally in Las Vegas Sunday, Sept, 13, at a McCarran International Airport hanger.
...
The Trump campaign released the following statement regarding its Nevada events:
"Democrats are trying to keep President Trump from speaking to voters because they know the enthusiasm behind his re-election campaign cannot be matched by Joe Biden -- a historically weak candidate controlled by the radical left who could hold a campaign event in a broom closet. The President's uplifting message of American greatness resonates with people, while everyone knows that Biden is a tool of the radical left who would raise taxes and tank the incredible comeback that is already underway. President Trump will be traveling to Nevada on the dates planned. Additional details will be announced soon."
Nevada is definitely in play -- the left-leaning Cook Political Report has moved Nevada from Likely Democrat to Lean Democrat.
It's also moved Florida from Lean Democrat to Toss Up.
Not "Lean Republican." Even though Biden's losing with Hispanics.
So that tells you where Cook's set-point is.
Is Minnesota really now in play?
Well, the short answer is yes.
The longer answer is also yes: Biden's now forced to try to shore that state up, which has only voted Republican twice in the last two hundred years. (I made that up but you know, it's Truthy. It's ballpark.)
He plans to stumble his way through reading the teleprompter on September 18th.
Leftwing election watch site 538 recently noted that Minnesota was in fact teetering on going red.
In the fabled "blue wall" -- the collection of historically Democratic states that pundits (wrongly) assumed gave Hillary Clinton an Electoral College advantage in 2016 -- Minnesota is the cornerstone. The Democratic candidate has won Minnesota in 11 straight presidential elections, the longest active streak in the country. What's more, no Republican has won any statewide election in Minnesota since 2006 -- not for Senate, not for governor, not even for state auditor.
After noting that Hillary Clinton only squeaked a win in 2016, the article notes:
Most ominously for Democrats, there is evidence that Minnesota is becoming redder over time, with 2016 being a particular inflection point. In 1984, the state was 18.2 points more Democratic than the nation as a whole. But in 2016, for the first time since 1952, Minnesota voted more Republican than the rest of the U.S.
Meanwhile, the GOP is piling up a big number of new voter registrations in Pennsylvania.
In the four years since Donald Trump's surprise victory in the 2016 presidential election, the GOP has registered nearly seven times more voters than Democrats in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
Keystone State Republicans have added almost 198,000 registered voters to the books since 2016, while Democrats have gained an additional 29,000, Politico reported Thursday.
Democrats still outnumber Republicans by about 750,000 voters in the state, but the percentage of those registered is down two points from September 2016. The percentage of Republicans has risen from 38% to 39%.
