"Muh Free Speech!"

I realize that SCOTUS decisions over the years have greatly expanded the number of things that constitute "free expression" and thus protected by 1A guarantees, but I'm pretty sure that shoving a bullhorn into some guy's face and screaming at him probably doesn't qualify. At least, I don't think it should. Because, it's not exactly a "peaceable assembly". is it? In fact, I think I'd call it a declaration of war.

Mental Illness On Full Display:

And what you see here in this video is why we can't have nice things. Like small government and low taxes. Because in order to have small government, you first need to have self government. Central to the western philosophical tradition is the idea of man as a "rational animal" whose passions must be controlled by Reason in order to keep from descending into savagery and barbarism.

So we need to learn from a very young age not to lash out at others who hurt us, or when we don't get our way, or we feel like it. The maintenance of our civilization depends on this. The progressive world-building enterprise simply ignores the idea of the inherent goodness of self-restraint. Anything is justified if it is done for the right (progressive) cause. This is why the masked/hooded young woman had no qualms about following some guy around and yelling at him. His only mistake was to try to engage her as if she were a rational being. Obviously, she is totally deranged by hatred and was simply letting her freak flag fly. Very little self-restraint or self-government whatsoever. I'm not sure if her over-the-top hatred was caused by mental illness or vice versa. The point is, she's not fully rational.

It reminds me of C.S. Lewis' Narnia stories. For those of you who haven't read them, they feature a world with magic and talking animals. Some animals can talk (speak rational thoughts) and some, even some of the same species, cannot. And this rationality is not an irrevocable gift. Talking animals can lose their ability to speak if they do something really bad. They won't die, but they will revert back to the status of brute beasts. So when I see the young woman jumping up and down and chanting mindlessly, it sounds like her rationality is at a very low ebb. And if she keeps doing what she's doing, what little she has will soon be gone.

And the more this behavior becomes the norm, the less our country will be able to achieve the Lincolnian ideal of government of, by, and for the people. The only other option is government by brute force, secret police, and bribery.

7/18 - IrishMikeComedy thanks the Horde again for the prayers for his son, born in April. He’d like to request prayers now for complete healing for his son from a UTI that seems cleared up, but they are checking for renal scarring.

7/18 - IrishMikeComedy also asks for prayers for employment. He was laid off last Thursday. He is looking for remote work in customer service, with a specialty in insurance.
8/17 Update- The baby is doing well and has a clean bill of health, and IrishMikeComedy has gotten a new job!

7/25 - Pooky’s Girl reports that Pooky is looking for different employment. He dropped off his resume at a local place that would fit his skills better and had a good meeting with the owner, who he already knows. Asking for prayers that he either gets this job or a lead on a similar job.

8/6 - Jordan61 asks for prayers for Mom, who is in remission from multiple myeloma, and she is having a bone biopsy on Wednesday, 8/12, to make sure it isn’t returning. (She’s had some red flags in her routine bloodwork.) Prayers for a negative result and continuing remission.
8/20 Update - Mom’s biopsy was negative! Thanks to the Horde for your prayers.

8/26 grammie winger requests prayers for her city, Kenosha.

For Healing:

7/15 - Fox2! requests prayers for his friend Vicki, who is suffering from a rare form of cartilage cancer. Her doctor is talking about taking her log off above the knee. Please pray for healing and for wisdom for the doctors.
8/3 Update: Vicki’s surgery is scheduled for next week.
8/31 Update: Vicki’s surgery went well. Going back in this week to clean up some infection. Continued prayers are requested for healing and successful rehab and adjustment to prosthetic.

7/17 - Dr_No requests prayers for his daughter Megan. She is scheduled for a 5.5 hour operation 7/21 to remove a Stage 2 cancer from her sigmoid colon, and will have a complete hysterectomy for preventative reasons.
7/21 Update: Megan’s surgery went well, and the best part is she didn’t need a colostomy!
7/27 Update: Megan’s pathology report showed that 4 of 20 lymph nodes showed cancer. Please pray for healing. Chemotherapy is planned to start in September, at this point.

8/5 - Prayers for Hugo the Chavez and his Family for healing and happiness.

8/12 - Prayers are requested for Jean, Ladyl’s very close friend, who is fighting mantle cell lymphoma.

8/24 - Cheriebebe asks for prayers for her Dad, who is in ICU and on a ventilator. Things do not look good. She asks for prayers of healing and comfort for her dad, mom, and the rest of the family.
