First-World Problems...Part Tizenhat
There is a local guy who does a pretty good job of sharpening knives, but since Chinese Lung AIDS arrived, the store that lets him set up in their lobby has ended that convenient arrangement, And I am left to my own..er..devices. I have a steel and an electric knife sharpener with rough and fine wheels, but it simply doesn't do a very good job. I have found that the bare ceramic on the bottom of bowls or cups does a pretty good job in a pinch, but that is a stopgap.
So I bought one those diamond things, and lo and behold, it does a good job! Not as good as my missing professional, but it's better than nothing.
